Surveys conducted by other polling firms at certain points in Trump\u2019s presidency also put his approval rating below 39 percent.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CTm2w7Lvh28\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=a9ba0354-93de-4d4d-9f78-db899e4e0f78\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post<\/a> attempts to compare Biden\u2019s approval rating to that of Trump, saying, \u201cJoe Biden\u2019s approval falls to 39 percent, worse than Trump\u2019s approval ever.\u201d It also appears to question the fact that Biden received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/11\/03\/us\/elections\/results-president.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">over 81 million votes<\/a> in the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/topics\/politics\/articles-reports\/2021\/09\/08\/more-americans-disapprove-joe-biden-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Economist\/YouGov poll<\/a> released Sept. 8 did find that 39 percent of respondents said they \u201cstrongly or somewhat approve\u201d of the \u201cway Joe Biden is handling his job as President.\u201d The poll, conducted <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/hlzpfslijb\/econTabReport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">between Sept. 4 and 7<\/a>, surveyed 1,500 U.S. adult citizens via \u201cweb-based interviews.\u201d Biden\u2019s approval rating has dipped below 50 percent in recent days, according to aggregate polling data published by <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/biden-approval-rating\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FiveThirtyEight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But, contrary to the Instagram post\u2019s claim, polls did put Trump\u2019s approval rating below 39 percent at points during his presidency. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2019\/10\/16\/fact-check-president-donald-trump-poll-25-percent-support-impeachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Do Only 25% Of Americans Support Impeachment, As Trump Claims?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact found Economist\/YouGov polls in which Trump\u2019s approval rating was below 39 percent, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net\/cumulus_uploads\/document\/3kv2h8ad3b\/econTabReport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jan. 27-29, 2019, one<\/a> that put it at 37 percent and <a href=\"https:\/\/d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net\/cumulus_uploads\/document\/zev5z2887d\/econTabReport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">another<\/a> spanning Oct. 7-10, 2017, that put it at 36 percent. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/4yijjbkc2z\/econTabReport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">One Economist\/YouGov Jan. 10-12 poll<\/a>&nbsp;said 39 percent of respondents \u201cstrongly\u201d or \u201csomewhat\u201d approved of the way Trump was \u201chandling his job as President.\u201d Some other surveys conducted by YouGov <a href=\"https:\/\/d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net\/cumulus_uploads\/document\/k4xswol4dt\/tabs_Trump_Tweets_20190313.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net\/cumulus_uploads\/document\/ioiyd1qstn\/tabs_Trump_Tweets_20191108.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2019<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/v7np087nrj\/tabs_Trump_Tweets_20200719.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">and<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/8mmsypq8a8\/tabs_Trump_Tweets_20200820.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2020<\/a> also put Trump\u2019s approval rating at 38 percent at certain points.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 20, the date Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/video\/donald-trump-leaves-white-house-final-time-president-75367604\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">left<\/a> office, his approval rating averaged at about 38.6 percent, according to polling data aggregated by <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/trump-approval-ratings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FiveThirtyEight<\/a>. A <a href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/images\/polling\/us\/us01182021_usyn921.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quinnipiac University poll<\/a> released Jan. 18 found that 34 percent of voters approved of how Trump was \u201chandling his job as president.\u201d A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/politics\/2021\/01\/15\/biden-begins-presidency-with-positive-ratings-trump-departs-with-lowest-ever-job-mark\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pew Research Center survey<\/a> conducted Jan. 8-12 among 5,360 U.S. adults and released Jan. 15 found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/politics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/01\/PP_2021.01.15_biden-trump-views_TOPLINE.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">only 29 percent<\/a> approved of how Trump was \u201chandling his job as president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gallup tracked Trump\u2019s approval rating over the course of his presidency. His \u201c2017-2021 term average\u201d in Gallup polling was <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/203198\/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">41 percent approval<\/a>, with his highest Gallup poll approval rating being 49 percent and his lowest being 34 percent. His approval rating in <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/203198\/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one Jan. 15-21, 2018, Gallup poll<\/a> put his approval rating at 36 percent, while <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/opinion\/polling-matters\/216125\/trump-job-approval-rating-new-low.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">another Gallup poll<\/a> conducted Aug. 11-13, 2017, put it at 34 percent.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2020 presidential election, Biden received over 81 million votes, while Trump received over 74 million, according to election results from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/election\/2020\/results\/president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/11\/03\/us\/elections\/results-president.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/elections\/2020\/general-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox News<\/a>. Former Attorney General William Barr said the Department of Justice found no evidence of widespread voter fraud, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/barr-no-widespread-election-fraud-b1f1488796c9a98c4b1a9061a6c7f49d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/84vqls79i0\/econToplines.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recent Economist\/YouGov poll<\/a>, conducted Sept. 12-14 among 1,500 U.S. adult citizens, reported <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/lib6k0abqf\/econTabReport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">44 percent<\/a> of respondents said they \u201cstrongly approve\u201d or \u201csomewhat approve\u201d of how Biden is handling his job as president.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A viral Instagram post claims President Joe Biden\u2019s 39 percent approval rating is lower than former President Donald Trump\u2019s ever was.
