It\u2019s not going to be a surprise.\u201d<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The book says Milley told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) he agreed President Trump was \u201ccrazy\u201d and was so worried Trump could start a nuclear war that he made his fellow military commanders swear an \u201coath\u201d not to act unless Milley was involved.&nbsp;<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Response<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>General Milley has confirmed he made the calls but did not comment on what was discussed. He also admits to holding a meeting to discuss \u201cnuclear weapons protocol,\u201d but he maintains he did nothing illegal.<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>President Trump has called for Milley to be tried for treason, saying, \u201cI never even thought of attacking China.\u201d<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Calls To Resign<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Critics say if Milley were to insert himself into the chain of command on nuclear issues, he would be subverting the civilian command of the U.S. military. There\u2019s still around 30% of the expected vote to be counted, but given his comfortable lead, Newsom is projected to remain in office.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Background<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>In August, the race was very tight, but in the days leading up to the election, the \u201ckeep\u201d vote began showing momentum in the polls. Political analysts have cited three main reasons for the outcome:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span> Newsom essentially mobilized the entire national Democratic Party apparatus to protect his position.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> The Democratic Party successfully repositioned the election from being a referendum on Newsom\u2019s performance as governor to being a referendum on their characterization of Larry Elder as Donald Trump 2.0.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> Due to California\u2019s recall policies, Newsom was able to amass over $70 million in campaign funds, while Elder had about a quarter of that amount.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Political Point: <\/b><span>For a recall election to even happen in a deep blue state like California should be a warning sign for Democrats, especially since the policies promoted by Newsom and President Biden aren\u2019t as popular in other areas of the country as they are in L.A. or San Francisco.<\/span><\/p>\n<div readability=\"6\">\n<div id=\"attachment_286707\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"32\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-286707\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-286707\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Daniel-AckerBloombergContributor-via-Getty-Images.jpg\" alt width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/09\/Daniel-AckerBloombergContributor-via-Getty-Images.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/09\/Daniel-AckerBloombergContributor-via-Getty-Images-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-286707\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daniel Acker\/Bloomberg\/Contributor via Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p2\"><b>3) <\/b><b>Texas Judge Blocks Group\u2019s Enforcement Of Pro-Life Law<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The Topline: <\/b><span>A Texas judge temporarily blocked some pro-life groups from enforcing the state\u2019s new abortion law banning most abortions after six weeks and allowing citizens to take legal action against abortion providers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Ruling<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>A judge in Texas <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/texas-abortion-ban-planned-parenthood-injunction-6adc256a-54fd-4530-bdcd-7b6660571b02.html\"><span>issued<\/span><\/a><span> a temporary injunction preventing Texas Right to Life, and others, from suing specific Planned Parenthood facilities \u2014 or their doctors, and staff \u2014 until a final judgment is handed down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A trial on the merits of the case has been set for April of next year, so the injunction will likely last until at least that time.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Response<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Abortion activists are generally supportive of the court\u2019s decision, but they\u2019re not entirely happy about the ruling, which only applies to the group named in the lawsuit, meaning the law is still in effect for everyone else in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Texas Right to Life <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/texasrighttolife.com\/texas-right-to-life-defeats-planned-parenthoods-attempt-to-block-heartbeat-act-enforcement\/\"><span>pointed<\/span><\/a><span> out that, even though they are prevented from suing at this time, the law still remains in effect more broadly, which they consider a win.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Planned Parenthood was also attempting to reveal the names of pro-life advocates, which Texas Right to Life says was also defeated by this ruling.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Law<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The new law<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/supreme-court-rejects-abortion-providers-request-to-stay-texas-heartbeat-law\"><span>bans<\/span><\/a><span> most abortions after fetal cardiac activity is detected, which is usually around 6 weeks. It also allows private citizens to sue abortion providers and those who \u201caid and abet\u201d illegal procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While \u201cheartbeat bills,\u201d or laws that prevent abortion after a fetal heartbeat, have been passed in other states, they typically don\u2019t go into effect because the courts block them as abortion providers sue.
