The proposal that USSF made recently to us does neither. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lzchRa0hea\">https:\/\/t.co\/lzchRa0hea<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 USWNT Players (@USWNTPlayers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USWNTPlayers\/status\/1438171271573934083?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The offer by the USSF was announced Tuesday, focusing on a \u201csingle pay structure\u201d for both teams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cU.S. Soccer firmly believes that the best path forward for all involved, and for the future of the sport in the United States, is a single pay structure for both senior national teams,\u201d the USSF said in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ussoccer.com\/stories\/2021\/09\/us-soccer-federation-offers-identical-contract-proposals--to-womens-and-mens-national-team\"><span>statement<\/span><\/a><span> on their website. \u201cThis proposal will ensure that USWNT and USMNT players remain among the highest paid senior national team players in the world, while providing a revenue sharing structure that would allow all parties to begin anew and share collectively in the opportunity that combined investment in the future of the U.S. Soccer will deliver over the course of a new CBA.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The USSF also \u201ccalled upon the players and both Players Associations to join the Federation in finding a way to equalize FIFA World Cup prize money between the USMNT and the USWNT.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For the 2022 World Cup, FIFA has proposed $440 million in prize money to the men\u2019s teams that participate, while offering $60 million to teams of the 2023 Women\u2019s World Cup.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In March 2019, USWNT players sued the USSF claiming gender discrimination and that they had not been paid equitably compared to what the men received.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Friday, Cindy Parlow Cone \u2014 U.S. Soccer Federation President \u2014 wrote an open <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/itsmeglinehan\/status\/1436361640048480263\">letter<\/a> asking the two teams to negotiate <\/span><span>\u201ca solution that equalizes World Cup prize money between the USMNT and USWNT.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-61 Component-p-0-2-52\">\u201cWe see an opportunity to create change,\u201d Parlow Cone <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/soccer-womens-soccer-sports-international-soccer-fifa-womens-world-cup-113516399713b76165a416d4019139fe\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cWe need our men\u2019s and women\u2019s national teams to come together and re-think how we\u2019ve done things in the past. To that end, we have invited the players and both players\u2019 associations to join U.S. Soccer in negotiating a solution together that equalizes World Cup prize money between the USMNT and USWNT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-61 Component-p-0-2-52\">\u201cFinding a framework that works for everyone will require open and thoughtful conversations and sincere commitment from USMNT and USWNT players to come together.
