(Nicholas Kamm\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>Grassley noted that the leader of the group,\u00a0ShutDownDC, recently pleaded no contest to criminal trespass charges and was told to stay away from the wife of Sen. John Hawley (R-Mo.).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese groups do it for partisan purposes they want to bully judges into ruling in line with their liberal agenda,\u201d Grassley added.<\/p>\n<p>ShutDownDC did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3661251\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3661251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/dick-durbin-6-600x386-1.jpg\" alt=\"Dick Durbin\" width=\"600\" height=\"386\" \/><\/noscript><\/figcaption>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sen. (Susan Walsh\/Pool\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe all know you have to have a tough mental hyde to be in this business, but it\u2019s absolutely unacceptable from my point of view, to involve any major public figure\u2019s family or their home, or to involve yourself in criminal trespass in the name of political freedom of speech,\u201d Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said. \u201cThere are proper venues to express yourself and I don\u2019t believe a person\u2019s home or their family should be fair game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) also criticized the protest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can state your opinion of any one of us at the ballot box, you can write letters, but to try to intimidate family or anything like that is wrong,\u201d Leahy said.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice John Roberts early last year issued a pointed statement condemning a speech by then-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who appeared to intimidate Kavanaugh and Justice Neil Gorsuch, in remarks at a protest outside the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have unleashed the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won\u2019t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,\u201d Schumer said.<\/p>\n<p>In a rare rebuke issue shortly after, Roberts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_app\/mcconnell-schumers-threats-against-supreme-court-justices-astonishingly-reckless_3261325.html\">condemned<\/a> Schumer\u2019s rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJustices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous.
