The claim stems from a satirical website.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CTwkFztLh04\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=a659ba38-6911-4273-94de-d6e359b86c1f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">image<\/a> in the Sept. 13 Instagram post shows what looks like a screen grab of a headline that reads, \u201cBiden Orders VA To Withhold Health Benefits From Unvaccinated Veterans.\u201d It started circulating after Biden on Sept. 9 signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2021\/09\/14\/2021-19927\/requiring-coronavirus-disease-2019-vaccination-for-federal-employees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">executive order<\/a> requiring federal employees to get COVID-19 vaccines and unveiled an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/covidplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">action plan<\/a> that includes mandatory COVID-19 vaccination or weekly testing for employees of companies with at least 100 workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs with so many other things in our country, veterans are part of the problem when they should be part of the solution,\u201d the Instagram post\u2019s caption quotes Biden as supposedly saying. It goes on to credit him with stating to veterans, \u201cEnough is enough. So sit down and get the dang shot. Do what we tell you to do and continue your service to this great country. Or go without your healthcare benefits. The choice is yours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reality, the president has not ordered the VA to deny benefits to veterans who haven\u2019t received COVID-19 vaccines. None of the executive orders published on the respective <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">White House<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/presidential-documents\/executive-orders\/joe-biden\/2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Federal Register websites<\/a> mention such a policy.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/09\/14\/fact-check-pfizer-developing-covid-19-pill-every-day-after-vaccinated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Is Pfizer Developing A COVID-19 Pill To Be Taken Every Day After Being Vaccinated?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The supposed Biden comments included in the Instagram post also seem to be fabricated. Check Your Fact didn\u2019t find them in <a href=\"https:\/\/factba.se\/biden\/search#So%2Bsit%2Bdown%2Band%2Bget%2Bthe%2Bdang%2Bshot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Factba.se\u2019s database<\/a> of his public statements, and a search of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">White House press releases<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transcripts<\/a> turned up no matches. Biden does not appear to have posted the alleged quotes on any of his <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=veterans%20(from%3AJoeBiden%20OR%20from%3APOTUS)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/7860876103\/search\/?q=veterans%20vaccinated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/joebiden\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accounts<\/a>, either.<\/p>\n<p>The VA\u2019s public affairs office provided Check Your Fact with a comment from VA Press Secretary Terrence Hayes via email that states, \u201cThe President has not and will not withhold benefits to Veterans who choose not to be vaccinated. The spread of this misinformation is extremely detrimental to our Veterans and their families and should cease immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Instagram post\u2019s screen grab appears to come from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delawareohionews.com\/national-news\/biden-orders-va-to-withhold-health-benefits-from-unvaccinated-veterans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> on the website Delaware Ohio News. The quotes attributed to Biden can be found in the article as well. However, Delaware Ohio News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delawareohionews.com\/legal-statements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">features<\/a> a Disclaimer that explains, \u201cAll stories herein are parodies (satire, fiction, fake, not real) of people and\/or actual events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite Delaware Ohio News having this warning on its website, some social media users seem to have mistaken the satirical article as fact and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=124465766596863&amp;id=100071003196154\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">subsequently shared<\/a> screen grabs without a clear Disclaimer of the content\u2019s satirical origin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A viral Instagram post claims President Joe Biden ordered the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to withhold benefits from veterans who have not received COVID-19 vaccinations.
