Ron DeSantis called President Joe Biden\u2019s vaccine mandate \u201cunconstitutional\u201d and argued it is \u201cnot based on science\u201d during a Friday press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>Biden announced Thursday that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will require <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/joe-biden-require-private-companies-100-more-employees-mandate-vaccines-weekly-testing-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">private businesses<\/a> with 100 plus employees to mandate vaccines or test them weekly. The president criticized \u201celected officials\u201d\u2014 particularly DeSantis and Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott\u2014 that have banned policies mandating COVID-19 protocols, threatening to \u201cget them out of the way,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/joe-biden-covid-mask-mandate-vaccines-abbott-desantis-1627742\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to Newsweek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGenerally, when you\u2019re taking action that\u2019s unconstitutional, that threatens the jobs of the people in my state, many, many thousands of jobs, I\u2019m standing for them,\u201d the governor said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to protect their jobs and against federal overreach. And this is a guy who criticizes the state of Florida for protecting parents\u2019 rights and he says \u2018School boards should be able to eliminate parents\u2019 rights and force five-year-old kids to wear masks all day.\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet here he comes from Washington, D.C., instituting an unprecedented mandate which even his own people acknowledge in the past is not constitutional, that\u2019s not leadership and I think the problem I have with Joe Biden more than anything, this guy doesn\u2019t take responsibility for anything. He\u2019s always trying to blame other people, blame other states.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"7.0961538461538\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">NEW \u2013 Florida Gov. He added that the mandate does not follow science since it does not exempt those with <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/04\/dr-makary-natural-immunity-covid-19-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">natural immunity<\/a>.<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/mass-civil-disobedience-jd-vance-shreds-bidens-vaccine-mandate-american-businesses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018Only Mass Civil Disobedience Will Save Us\u2019: JD Vance Shreds Biden\u2019s Vaccine Mandate On American Businesses)&nbsp;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany of these people [COVID patients] have already recovered and they have immunity. The idea that somehow, you\u2019ll have someone that gets a Johnson &amp; Johnson and they can work but someone that\u2019s got natural immunity somehow can\u2019t, that natural immunity is strong,\u201d DeSantis continued. \u201cSo it\u2019s not based on science, and you can say, he says he\u2019s \u2018losing patience with people.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, we don\u2019t live with a one-person rule in this country, we live in a constitutional system which people\u2019s rights are respected, but particularly in this juncture their livelihoods and their jobs have to be protected. Just think about what this mandate will do, it\u2019s going to drive people out of work, out of hospitals, out of all this stuff where you have a need for people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it\u2019s totally counterproductive and I think it\u2019ll ultimately lose in court but before that there needs to be action taken to protect the people of our state and hopefully, of the entire United States. Nobody should lose their job based on their decision,\u201d the governor concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Several Republican state attorney generals <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/republican-states-legal-options-joe-biden-vaccine-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">threatened<\/a> to take legal action against Biden\u2019s new mandate Thursday, saying they are reviewing all legal protocols of the legislation. A new poll revealed that nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/07\/vaccine-mandate-poll-employers-unvaccinated-employees-covid-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">three-quarters<\/a> of unvaccinated Americans would prefer to quit their job than receive the shot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Florida Gov.
