Version: 4.0.47--><p>The California state Senate passed a bill Wednesday that regulates how warehouses set production quotas and use data on warehouse employees.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billVotesClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB701\">bill<\/a>, introduced by state Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez in May, specifically takes aim at warehouses, including those run by Amazon, that monitor and track employee productivity and use data on employees to assess their performance.<\/p>\n<p>Under the bill, workers would be able to obtain copies of their \u201cwork speed data\u201d and use it to contest adverse actions taken against them by their employer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe one of Amazon\u2019s biggest competitive advantages over rivals is this ability to monitor their work force, prod workers to work faster and discipline workers when they fail to meet quotas,\u201d Beth Gutelius, research director at the Center for Urban Economic Development at the University of Illinois Chicago, told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/09\/08\/business\/economy\/amazon-labor-california-senate.html\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7279144\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"35\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7279144\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7279144\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/amazonworkers-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"People hold placards during a protest in support of Amazon workers in Union Square, New York on February 20, 2021. -
