Liz Cheney, who has emerged as his highest-profile GOP critic in Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Trump described <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/08\/donald-trump-endorse-harriet-hageman-liz-cheney-gop-critic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hageman<\/a> as a loyal ally that was \u201call in on America First,\u201d praising her Wyoming roots and successful law career. Cheney was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/12\/liz-cheney-ousted-house-republican-leadership-role\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ousted<\/a> from her leadership position in May over her criticism of Trump, and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/13\/10-republicans-voted-impeach-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">voted to impeach him<\/a> in January for his role in inciting the Capitol riot that month.<\/p>\n<p>Hageman \u201cis strong on Crime and Borders, powerfully supports the Second Amendment, loves our Military and our Vets, and will fight for Election Integrity and Energy Independence,\u201d Trump said in a statement Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Though Hageman has emerged as a top Trump ally chosen among a plentiful GOP field, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2016\/07\/rnc-2016-never-trump-225664\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">opposed Trump\u2019s first bid<\/a> in 2016 and was formerly a friend to Cheney. She was part of a group of Republican delegates who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2016\/07\/rnc-2016-never-trump-225664\">unsuccessfully sought<\/a> to change the convention\u2019s rules to nominate someone other than Trump, and casted her ballot for then-candidate Ted Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>Hageman, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/harriethageman\/status\/1011679400062955521\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> she supported Trump and his agenda during her unsuccessful bid for governor in 2018, and hoped to partner with him if she won.<\/p>\n<p>Wyoming state Rep.
