According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sg\/en\/node\/258887\">statement<\/a> released by the U.N. on Sunday, half of Afghanistan\u2019s 18 million people were in need of humanitarian assistance in order to survive.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the secretary general met directly with Taliban leadership to discuss the continued aid.
