As the assailants fled the area, the operatives found the corpses of three victims.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Rev. Jacob Kwashi, a pastor from the area, has accused the government of being in favor of the attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>We have never seen an evil government in this country like the one of today. The government is fully in support of the bloodshed in Nigeria. We are being killed just because we are not Muslims,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Kwashi, speaking at a funeral for 17 slain Christians, continued. \u201cThese evil Fulani jihadists are enjoying the backing of the government to go about killing people, destroying their houses and farmlands, yet when we try to defend ourselves, the government will go about arresting our people. What kind of justice is this?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Aruwan, the state official, claimed that the government had actually helped save lives during other attacks on Christians in other villages. \u201cThe troops of Operation Safe Haven also rescued 12 persons who were fleeing from the attackers,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A May <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/reports\/2020-report-on-international-religious-freedom\/nigeria\/\">report<\/a> from the U.S. Department of State highlighted the many violations of religious liberty throughout Nigeria and mentioned the high level of violence present in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government undertook 20 targeted military operations whose aim it stated was to root out bandits and armed gangs in the region and to arrest perpetrators of communal and criminal violence, but multiple sources stated that the government measures were largely reactive and insufficient to address the violence,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>It also noted that in December 2020, \u201cthe Secretary of State designated Nigeria a \u2018Country of Particular Concern\u2019 for having engaged in or tolerated particularly severe violations of religious freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>Attacks are frequently pinned on the Fulani Herdsmen, a group which CBN news reports as frequently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www1.cbn.com\/cbnnews\/world\/2021\/august\/bloodshed-in-nigeria-fulani-militants-kill-36-christians-in-30-days\"><span>being<\/span><\/a><span>, \u201c<\/span><span>radical Muslims who target Christians in their relentless attacks on villages across the West African country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As the Daily Wire <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/over-3000-christians-reportedly-killed-in-nigeria-so-far-this-year\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> in July, the killings of Christians in Nigeria this year have nearly matched the number killed last year. Nigeria is also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendoorsusa.org\/christian-persecution\/world-watch-list\/nigeria\/\"><span>ranked<\/span><\/a><span> in the top ten of Christian relief organization Open Door\u2019s list for the worst countries for Christian persecution, coming in at number nine. Nigeria ranked highly in all categories, coming in especially strong for the amount of violence.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>These attacks come at the same time as many have voiced concerns about the future of Christians in Afghanistan as the Taliban has come to power following the U.S. hasty withdrawal. As The Daily Wire previously reported, the Taliban were allegedly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/taliban-going-door-to-door-seeking-christians-searching-through-phones-for-bible-apps-report\"><span>combing<\/span><\/a><span> through phones to identify Christians.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019re hearing from reliable sources that the Taliban demand people\u2019s phones, and if they find a downloaded Bible on your device, they will kill you immediately,\u201d said Dr. Rex Rogers, president of the Christian nonprofit organization <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sat7usa.org\/sat-7-calls-for-prayer-as-afghan-christians-fear-the-future\/\"><span>SAT-7 North America<\/span><\/a><span>, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/religionnews.com\/2021\/08\/17\/media-ministry-offers-lifeline-to-fearful-afghans-as-taliban-kill-christians\/\"><span>Religion News Service<\/span><\/a><span>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Christians in the region continue to be targeted for religious persecution, often from radical Islamic terrorism. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">counter-cultural<\/span>&nbsp;outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
