A sweeping ordinance went into effect on Friday, which has banned sleeping and homelessness in certain parts of the Los Angeles area.<\/p>\n<p>Officials stated the law prohibited any interference with ADA handicap access points. Once a resolution has been passed, storing property or obstructing the public right of way, such as sleeping and camping, would be illegal within 500 feet of schools, daycares, public parks and libraries.<\/p>\n<p>City council member Kevin de Leon explained, \u201cwhat\u2019s been voted on, what\u2019s in effect today is dealing with the blocking of ADA folks who adhere to the Americans Disabilities Act, active doorways as well as loading docks.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Don\u2019t let anyone tell you we need to choose between people who are homeless and people who live near encampments.
