Women in Texas must pay the price for her gullibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kavanaugh joined Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett in declining to rule on an emergency stay to a new Texas law that protects most pre-born babies starting at six weeks, the point at which a heartbeat can be detected.<\/p>\n<p>The law went into effect Wednesday morning, and that same day King <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenKing\/status\/1433198266074767369?s=20\">claimed<\/a>, \u201cThe Taliban would love the Texas abortion law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hardly the first time King has attacked Collins.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, at the height of Donald Trump\u2019s impeachment proceedings, he called for Collins\u2019 ouster, showing a bit of his 1960s protestor roots. \u201cRepublican Murkowski, not up for re-election, voted against witnesses,\u201d King <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenKing\/status\/1223800432721526785?s=20\">said<\/a>, \u201cRepublican Collins, up for re-election, voted for witnesses. Both will vote to acquit. It\u2019s Moscow Mitch at his finest. Hey hey, ho ho, Susan Collins has to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But despite the fact that King remains one of Maine\u2019s most famous sons, he hasn\u2019t had much success persuading his neighbors to his political point of view, a fact that King himself has acknowledged. In 2019, he bemoaned to late-night host Stephen Colbert that \u201cSusan Collins has been there for about a thousand years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not quite that long, but Collins is one of the longest-sitting senators in Congress, first taking office in 1997. Many political pundits predicted her vote to confirm Kavanaugh would result in her streak of election wins finally coming to an end. Instead, Collins handily defeated Democratic challenger Sara Gideon in the most expensive Senate race in the state\u2019s history, despite the fact that Gideon outspent Collins more than two-to-one.<\/p>\n<p>King isn\u2019t the only celebrity slamming Collins.<\/p>\n<p>Ellen Barkin gave King the compliment of restraint, retweeting his comment and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EllenBarkin\/status\/1433774324201177088?s=20\">adding<\/a>, \u201cMr King is a kind man. I\u2019m not. Susan Collins is a liar and a disgrace to her sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStar Trek\u201d actor George Takei <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GeorgeTakei\/status\/1433476924488261640?s=20\">said<\/a>, \u201cSusan Collins was wrong about Kavanaugh and Gorsuch. She sold women out, and Maine voters should never forget that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finally, comedian and podcaster Dana Goldberg <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DGComedy\/status\/1433110246503825410?s=20\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cSO glad Susan Collins had a stern conversation with Kavanaugh and believed <i>Roe V. Wade<\/i> was established law before she voted to confirm Drunky McRapey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King and the others might take some comfort in the fact that Collins may also regret her choice to confirm Kavanaugh. She released a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AndrewSolender\/status\/1433526325046915072?s=20\">statement<\/a> Thursday expressing her disappointment with the Court\u2019s decision, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p><em>The Supreme Court recognized that there are \u2018serious questions\u2019 regarding the constitutionality of the Texas law, and it emphasized that its recent ruling does not address those questions.
