Mohammed Faizi, who lives in San Diego County, said his family spent days at the airport in Kabul before finally being able to get on a plane.<\/p>\n<p>Faizi said he had California Rep. Darrell Issa (R) and the U.S. military to thank as they played a crucial role in making sure families returned home before the August 31 deadline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo finally, finally, we came here and it was not easy,\u201d Faizi explained. \u201cI was four days stuck inside the base with my five kids, through the sunshine, no shelter, nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Faizi family is home. Their story of courage \u2014 both father and children \u2014 is remarkable.
