A spokesperson for Germany\u2019s Federal Ministry of Health told Check Your Fact the claim was inaccurate.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/313101035947382\/posts\/935747473682732\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aug. 28 post<\/a> portrays itself as a \u201cbreaking news\u201d alert, saying in part, \u201cGermany halts all C19 vaccines, saying they are unsafe and no longer recommended! There has been a 2 week pause so they can reflect on the damages being caused to their people, NO ONE CAN GET IT and the vaccine license has been put on pause!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Paul Ehrlich Institute, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pei.de\/EN\/institute\/institute-node.html;jsessionid=9238AAC303E149CEB64A299C57D4782E.intranet212\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vaccine regulator<\/a> within the German Federal Ministry of Health, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pei.de\/EN\/newsroom\/dossier\/coronavirus\/coronavirus-content.html;jsessionid=89D84F06059637ECA70D3074942E68A3.intranet221?nn=164146&amp;cms_pos=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">currently lists<\/a> four authorized COVID-19 vaccines \u2013 Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson &amp; Johnson \u2013 on its website. It has not put out any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pei.de\/EN\/newsroom\/press-releases\/press-releases-node.html;jsessionid=86A83F144E36F10C82ED3E4088ED3004.intranet231\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a> announcing the pausing of all COVID-19 vaccines due to safety concerns, as of the time of publication.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bundesgesundheitsministerium.de\/presse\/pressemitteilungen\/2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Federal Ministry of Health<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rki.de\/DE\/Content\/Service\/Presse\/Pressemitteilungen\/pressemitteilungen_node.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Koch Institute<\/a>, the country\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rki.de\/EN\/Content\/Institute\/Profile\/profile_node_en.html;jsessionid=2C5D495421492F1986049F4BBB9C8CC6.internet112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">national disease control center<\/a>, have not put out any statements about a two-week halt of use of all COVID-19 vaccines either. Germany\u2019s Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO), an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rki.de\/EN\/Content\/infections\/Vaccination\/Vaccination_node.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">independent advisory group<\/a> under the Robert Koch Institute that makes official recommendations on vaccines, also has published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rki.de\/EN\/Content\/infections\/Vaccination\/recommandations\/recommendations_node.html;jsessionid=4E384C9718C7657B5507CB4F1FE71D77.internet121\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no recommendations<\/a> for the halting of all COVID-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>German media outlets such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bild.de\/suche.bild.html?query=COVID-19+Impfung+halt+aussetzen#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bild<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/suche\/?suchbegriff=COVID-19%2BImpfung%2Bhalt%2Bsuspendieren\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Der Spiegel<\/a> and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/search\/en?searchNavigationId=9097&amp;languageCode=en&amp;origin=gN&amp;item=covid-19+vaccine+halted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deutsche Welle<\/a> also do not appear to have reported on the country pausing the use of all COVID-19 vaccines for two weeks. Parissa Hajebi, a spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Health, confirmed in an email to Check Your Fact that the Facebook post\u2019s claim is false, noting, \u201cFour vaccines are currently approved in the EU, all of which are also used in Germany.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who wants to be vaccinated can make an appointment with a doctor or at a vaccination center, or take advantage of one of the low-threshold vaccination services offered locally by the federal states,\u201d Hajebi said. \u201cIn addition, many companies offer vaccinations.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/06\/02\/fact-check-cdc-7-out-10-americans-declining-covid-vaccines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did The CDC Say 7 Out Of 10 Americans Are \u2018Declining\u2019 To Get COVID-19 Vaccines)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Germany, a vaccine is \u201conly approved if it successfully passes all three phases of the clinical trial program and has a positive benefit-risk ratio,\u201d according to Hajebi. She went on to explain that \u201cnational and international quality standards apply \u2013 as for all other vaccine developments \u2013 also to the approval of a Corona vaccine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Ministry of Health has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BMG_Bund\/status\/1432727458009305092\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BMG_Bund\/status\/1432735003503431686\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">encouragement<\/a> about getting vaccinated against COVID-19 in the days since Aug. 28. A Federal Ministry of Health <a href=\"https:\/\/impfdashboard.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vaccine dashboard<\/a> shows COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Germany since the Facebook post made the claim, with over 264,000 doses being administered on Sept. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Due to concerns about a rare form of blood clot seen in a small number of people who received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, Germany moved in late March to largely suspend its use among people under the age of 60, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/03\/31\/germany-suspends-use-of-astrazenecas-covid-shot-for-the-under-60s.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNBC<\/a>. People in Germany under 60 can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine after consulting with their physician.
