Ron DeSantis hinted that he is open to similar legislation.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cI\u2019m pro life,\u201d DeSantis said. \u201cI welcome pro-life legislation. What they did in Texas was interesting, but I haven\u2019t really been able to look at enough about it.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>DeSantis\u2019 press secretary told the Daily Caller News Foundation Thursday afternoon that he cannot say for sure what type of law would be enacted in Florida as \u201che needs some time to look into the new Texas law.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hours after the Supreme Court declined to block a highly disputed Texas abortion law, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signaled that he may be open to similar legislation.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/09\/florida-ron-desantis-lgbtq\/\">governor<\/a> discussed Texas\u2019 Heartbeat Act Thursday at a West Palm Beach press conference after the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/20pdf\/21a24_8759.pdf#page=7\">ruled 5-4 late Wednesday night<\/a> to deny abortion providers\u2019 requests to block the law, which bans abortion after six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/23\/attorney-lawsuit-texas-abortion-law\/\">law<\/a>&nbsp;has particularly angered abortion advocates as it allows \u201cany person\u201d to sue doctors, abortion clinics, or anyone who \u201cknowingly engages in conduct that aids or abets the performance or inducement of an abortion.\u201d&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/01\/texas-taliban-abortion\/\">(RELATED: \u2018Texas Taliban\u2019: Abortion Law Is As Bad As Literal Terrorists, According To Liberal Activists)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Those who sue over an abortion may be awarded $10,000 \u201cfor each abortion\u201d the defendant performed, induced, aided, or abetted in violation of the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pro life,\u201d DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therecount\/status\/1433478929352990723?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>. \u201cI welcome pro-life legislation. What they did in Texas was interesting, and I haven\u2019t really been able to look at enough about it, they\u2019ve basically done this through private right of action. So, it\u2019s a little bit different than how a lot of these debates have gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m gonna look more significantly at it,\u201d he added.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/02\/nancy-pelosi-abortion-texas-vigilante-bounty\/\">(RELATED: \u2018Catastrophe To Women\u2019: Pelosi Promises Federal Abortion Legislation, Says Texas Law Creates \u2018Vigilante Bounty System\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He suggested not to \u201cread too much\u201d into the Supreme Court ruling, adding,&nbsp;\u201cThey basically said it\u2019s not right yet for a decision, but if it ends up going, then you could consider it at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, the science on this has been very powerful now for a long time,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you go back forty years ago, what people thought versus what they can see now, it\u2019s very powerful. So I\u2019ve always been somebody that really does support protections for life as best as we can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/01\/texas-taliban-abortion\/\">Abortion advocates<\/a>, activists, and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/02\/nancy-pelosi-abortion-texas-vigilante-bounty\/\">lawmakers<\/a> have expressed fear and anger at both the Texas law and the the Supreme Court\u2019s decision, warning that the events of the last few days <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/01\/cnn-jeffrey-toobin-abortion-sky-falling-doom\/\">spell<\/a> \u201cdoom\u201d for Roe v. Wade. Florida enacting its own Heartbeat Act would only increase this frenzy, particularly ahead of Dobbs v.
