Judy Chu\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/actforwomen.org\/the-womens-health-protection-act\/\">Women\u2019s Health Protection Act<\/a> to \u201censhrine into law reproductive health care for all women across America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery woman, everywhere has the constitutional right to basic health care,\u201d she said. \u201cSB8 is the most extreme, dangerous abortion ban in half a century, and its purpose is to destroy Roe v. Wade, and even refuses to make exceptions for cases of rape and incest. This ban necessitates codifying Roe v. (Photo by Win McNamee\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Those who sue over an abortion may be awarded $10,000 \u201cfor each abortion\u201d the defendant performed, induced, aided, or abetted in violation of the law.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi said this aspect of the law creates a \u201cvigilante bounty system\u201d that she called one of the most \u201cdisturbing, unprecedented and far-reaching assaults on health care providers,\u201d predicting that it will have a \u201cchilling effect on the provision of any reproductive health care services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis provision is a cynical, backdoor attempt by partisan lawmakers to evade the Constitution and the law to destroy not only a woman\u2019s right to health care but potentially any right or protection that partisan lawmakers target,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/22\/mississippi-roe-v-wade-abortion-supreme-court-attorney-general\/\">will begin hearing<\/a> Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization in October, one of the&nbsp;first major abortion case in which all three of former President Donald Trump\u2019s Supreme Court justice appointees participate, including Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who gained a seat on the court after a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/26\/amy-coney-barrett-supreme-court-attacks-democrats-media\/\">contentious confirmation<\/a> process in October 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting Justice Sotomayor\u2019s dissent in the Wednesday decision, Pelosi urged the court to uphold \u201cits constitutional obligations to protect not only the rights of women, but also the sanctity of its precedents and of the rule of law\u201d when it takes up Dobbs v.
