After Singletary announced his intention to leave, Warren fired him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a man of integrity, I will not sit idly by while outside entities attempt to destroy my character,\u201d Singletary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whec.com\/rochester-new-york-news\/rpd-chief-larsquoron-singletary-retires-amid-protests\/5855709\/\">said<\/a> at the time he announced his resignation, taking a veiled shot at Warren.&nbsp;\u201cThe events over the past week are an attempt to destroy my character and integrity. The members of the Rochester Police Department and the Greater Rochester Community know my reputation and know what I stand for. The mischaracterization and the politicization of the actions that I took after being informed of Mr. Prude\u2019s death is not based on facts, and is not what I stand for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the announcement, Warren fired Singletary. The former Rochester police chief then&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.democratandchronicle.com\/story\/news\/2020\/12\/16\/former-rpd-chief-singletary-claims-mayor-warren-directed-him-to-lie-daniel-prude-case-rochester-ny\/3933888001\/\">filed<\/a> a notice of claim to the city alleging defamation of character, hostile work environment, and wrongful and retaliatory termination wherein he accused Warren of repeatedly telling him to lie over the Prude case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI repeatedly refused to lie for Mayor Warren,\u201d Singletary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democratandchronicle.com\/story\/news\/2020\/12\/16\/former-rpd-chief-singletary-claims-mayor-warren-directed-him-to-lie-daniel-prude-case-rochester-ny\/3933888001\/\">said<\/a> in the filing. \u201cPressure to support Mayor Warren\u2019s narrative also came from other city officials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whec.com\/rochester-new-york-news\/former-rpd-chief-singletary-files-lawsuit-against-mayor-warren-city-of-rochester\/6223851\/\">According<\/a> to WHEC 10 News, court records show the former police chief is alleging in the suit that Warren defamed his character, fostered a hostile work environment, and was wrongfully terminated in retaliation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-10 col-md-offset-1\">\n<div class=\"panel-body hbi-story-panel-body-after-ad\">\n<div class=\"row story-body hbi-story-body\" readability=\"34.649350649351\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12\" readability=\"16.362193362193\">\n<p>An attorney hired to independently investigate the city\u2019s handling of the Prude case found in March that the city \u201csurpassed\u201d information and many \u201cuntrue statements,\u201d the report detailed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring a deposition shortly before the attorney general\u2019s&nbsp;announcement, Singletary answered numerous questions about his knowledge of the events the night Prude had an encounter with officers. Santiago\/Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>City spokesman Justin Roj issued a statement in response to the suit which included a blanket statement condemning the RPD for a \u201clegacy\u201d of \u201cuntruthfulness\u201d and accused Singletary of lying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs detailed in recent court proceedings reported today involving other officers, there has been a legacy in the Rochester Police Department of untruthfulness,\u201d the statement read. \u201cMr. Singletary\u2019s testimony to the Special Counsel detailed his own inability to tell the truth, as a simple viewing of his testimony under oath clearly shows. Mr. Singletary failed in his duties as Chief and was rightfully terminated due to those failures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Warren, who suffered numerous high-profile scandals under her tenure, was shellacked in a primary challenge from fellow Democrat Malik Evans in June.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, before the primary, Warren was indicted on two felony campaign finance charges \u201cthat threatened to remove her from office if she was convicted,\u201d The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/06\/22\/nyregion\/lovely-warren-rochester-mayor-malik-evans.html\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And this summer, the Democrat\u2019s home was raided in connection to a major seven-month-long drug investigation. Warren\u2019s husband, Timothy Granison, was arrested and hit with two drug charges and one gun charge. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrat-mayors-home-raided-in-connection-to-major-drug-bust-husband-hit-with-gun-drug-charges\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported on take-aways from the press conference announcing the shocking news:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Granison\u2019s arrest was part of a seven-months-long investigation; he was not the initial target<\/li>\n<li>There were numerous warrants executed on Wednesday night, in addition to the Granison\/Warren home. Seven&nbsp;locations were hit between Wednesday night and Thursday morning and more arrests are expected.<\/li>\n<li>At the time of the arrest, only the couple\u2019s daughter was home, prompting questions from reporters concerning potential child endangerment charges in relation to the gun charge. Doorley refused to comment but noted more charges are coming.<\/li>\n<li>There have already been 2 kilos of crack cocaine confiscated from the busts, which equates to a street value of more than $60,000.
