Greg Abbott \u201cwon\u2019t lift a finger to prevent the sick brainwashing of Texas kids.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Abbott had called on DFPS in early August to say whether transgender surgeries for children constitutes child abuse, which DFPS Commissioner Jaime Masters confirmed in an August 11 letter.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has removed a web page celebrating transgender youth, offering little explanation to the Daily Caller News Foundation for the page\u2019s removal or existence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Texas Youth Connection (TYC) website has been temporarily disabled for a comprehensive review of its content,\u201d DFPS Director of Communications Patrick Crimmins told the DCNF Wednesday afternoon. \u201cThis is being done to ensure that its information, resources, and referrals are current.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/01\/texas-taliban-abortion\/\">(RELATED: \u2018Texas Taliban\u2019: Abortion Law Is As Bad As Literal Terrorists, According To Liberal Activists)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas candidate for governor Don Huffines highlighted the page in a Tuesday tweet that accused Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott\u2019s DFPS appointees of promoting \u201ctransgender sexual policies to Texas youth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The page was still up as of Tuesday evening but had been removed by Wednesday morning. Abbott\u2019s office referred the DCNF to DFPS regarding the page\u2019s removal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"6.1237113402062\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It\u2019s offensive to see <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GregAbbott_TX?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GregAbbott_TX<\/a> use our tax dollars to advocate for transgender ideology. This must end. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/txlege?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#txlege<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gQiAEJZ8YR\">pic.twitter.com\/gQiAEJZ8YR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Don Huffines (@DonHuffines) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DonHuffines\/status\/1432789978090807296?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 31, 2021<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The DFPS page <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/gEPxy#selection-417.1-417.219\">previously called<\/a> for the celebration and empowerment of \u201clesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, ally, and non-heterosexual (LGBTQIA+) youth, their peers, and family.\u201d The page directed youth to LGBTQ resources including the LGBTQIA+ National Youth Talk Line, the Trans Lifeline Hotline, and the Trevor Project.<\/p>\n<p>The page also suggested \u201cParents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays\u201d events for youth to participate in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome youth and young adults who are uncertain or identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community are more likely to have negative experiences or outcomes than their heterosexual peers,\u201d the page said. \u201cHaving support and resources is critical in addressing the needs of youth and young adults.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you think you are being treated unfairly because of what others think of your gender identity or sexual orientation \u2014 such as when applying for a job, school, or apartment \u2014 you may want to reach out for legal help,\u201d the page added, linking to legal resources.<\/p>\n<p>Crimmins told the DCNF that while the site is being reviewed, Texas youth may access the online resources \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfps.state.tx.us\/child_protection\/Youth_and_Young_Adults\/Preparation_For_Adult_Living\/default.asp\">Preparation for Adult Living<\/a>\u201d and the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfps.state.tx.us\/youth-helpline\/\">Texas Youth Helpline<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Huffines cited the DFPS page as evidence that Abbott will not \u201clift a finger to prevent the sick brainwashing of Texas kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTexas voters didn\u2019t elect a Republican governor so he could use their tax dollars to assist the Human Rights Campaign or direct individuals to Left-wing ideology groups,\u201d Huffines continued. \u201cIt\u2019s time for an actual Republican in the governor\u2019s mansion who puts an end to this nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abbott did not immediately address Huffines\u2019 accusations. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/06\/greg-abbott-texas-department-family-protective-services-trans-surgeries-kids\/\">(RELATED: Abbott Asks Department Of Family Protective Services To Say Whether Trans Surgeries For Kids Are Child Abuse)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDFPS removed this page because I exposed that Greg Abbott is using state resources to advocate for transgender ideology,\u201d Huffines told the DCNF Wednesday. \u201cYesterday, I told Texans that I would get this page taken down and we did just that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In early August, the Texas governor called on DFPS in to say whether transgender surgeries for children constitute child abuse. DFPS Commissioner Jaime Masters confirmed quickly in an August 11 letter that these surgeries do in fact constitute child abuse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGenital mutilation of a child through reassignment surgery is child abuse, subject to all rules and procedures pertaining to child abuse,\u201d Masters said. \u201cSuch mutilation may cause a \u2018genuine threat of substantial harm from physical injury to the child.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you have described,\u201d he continued, \u201cthis surgical procedure physically alters a child\u2019s genitalia for non-medical purposes potentially inflicting irreversible harm to children\u2019s bodies.
