Host Al Sharpton then turned the topic to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we talk about civil and human rights in Mississippi, I want to mention the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments about a currently blocked state law that would ban all abortions after 15 weeks,\u201d he said. \u201cThe heavily poor, young, and black women stand to lose access to the only abortion clinic in the state,\u201d he said. \u201cSounds as much about civil rights as abortion rights to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jefferson replied:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"17\">\n<p><em>Yes, this is a matter of&nbsp;civil rights.&nbsp;Having the right to an abortion&nbsp;is a constitutional right; it\u2019s grounded in the right to&nbsp;privacy that is within the Constitution.&nbsp;And I find it really interesting&nbsp;that part of this argument is an&nbsp;argument about, you know, \u201cthe&nbsp;right to an abortion is not&nbsp;explicitly listed in the Constitution.\u201d But&nbsp;you know what? Neither is the&nbsp;right to bear arms. The way that we interpret that&nbsp;law is the interpretation of a&nbsp;constitutional provision, the Second Amendment&nbsp;.. yet we\u2019re not&nbsp;applying that same logic to the&nbsp;situation.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What it reminds me of, quite&nbsp;honestly, is a suicide bomber \u2014 someone who feels like they have&nbsp;the right and the&nbsp;moral duty to&nbsp;mess up somebody else\u2019s life for the greater good.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Members of the pro-life movement called the comparison outrageous.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo compare pro-lifers, who compassionately work to save the lives of the unborn and their mothers, to maniacal suicide bombers who intentionally kill everyone around them shows she has no honest or thoughtful grasp on human rights,\u201d Ryan Bomberger, the co-founder and chief creative officer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theradiancefoundation.org\/\">The Radiance Foundation<\/a>, told Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t fight the inhumanity of lynching while embracing the inhumanity of abortion. Sadly, this is exactly what civil rights attorney Jill Collen Jefferson does,\u201d Bomberger said.<\/p>\n<p>To make matters worse, Jefferson \u201cmade those ignorant comments on the anniversary of Emmet Till\u2019s lynching \u2014 an evil act carried out by those who had zero regard for his life because of his color,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2018-2019, there were more black lives\u201d taken \u201cby the (racist\/eugenic) violence of abortion than were killed nationwide in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries by the violence of lynching,\u201d Bomberger claimed.<\/p>\n<p>A total of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/69\/ss\/ss6907a1.htm\">117,626<\/a> black babies were aborted in 2018, according to the CDC\u2019s most recent abortion surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>Bomberger added that Jefferson displayed \u201ca peculiar lack of knowledge of the actual constitutional \u2018right to bear arms\u2019 while defending the non-existent right to kill another human being (born or unborn).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Constitution\u2019s protection of private gun ownership seems far clearer than any alleged right to abortion. The Second Amendment <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/constitution\/amendment-2\/\">states<\/a> that \u201cthe right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.\u201d The Supreme Court clarified in its 2008 <em>District of Columbia v. Heller <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/07pdf\/07-290.pdf\">decision<\/a>, \u201cThere seems to us no doubt, on the basis of both text and history, that the Second Amendment conferred an individual right to keep and bear arms,\u201d which is \u201cunconnected with militia service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court based the right to abortion on the \u201cright to privacy,\u201d which the court discovered just eight years earlier in <em>Griswold v. Connecticut<\/em>. In that case, the justices <a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/381\/479\/#tab-opinion-1945663\">ruled<\/a> that, although the Constitution did not address the issue under consideration, \u201c[t]he Bill of Rights have penumbras, formed by emanations from those guarantees that help give them life and substance.\u201d For the first time in Supreme Court history, <em>Roe v. Wade <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/410\/113\/#tab-opinion-1950137\">asserted<\/a> that abortion fell under the newly discovered \u201cright\u201d to \u201csexual privacy,\u201d which is \u201csaid to be protected by the Bill of Rights or its penumbra.\u201d Legal scholars across the political spectrum have said the ruling lacks sound legal reasoning.<\/p>\n<p>Jefferon\u2019s comments add her to the growing list of leftists who have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/christian-evangelicals-are-americas-taliban-actors-journalists-equate-american-christians-to-the-taliban\">likened<\/a> conservative Christian Americans to the Taliban in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>MSNBC\u2019s Joy Reid approvingly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/joy-reid-retweets-claim-that-republicans-are-more-aligned-with-taliban-than-with-democrats\">shared<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoyAnnReid\/status\/1426988067223654401\">tweet<\/a> stating, \u201cThe Republicans \u2026 are actively working to strip women of their freedom to vote and to make reproductive decisions.
