The man was reportedly attempting to attach a Taliban flag to a flag pole from the air.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Amid the collapse of the Afghan government, the Taliban has taken control of military equipment such as night vision goggles, rifles, Humvees and helicopters originally supplied by the U.S. to Afghan security forces, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/aerospace-defense\/planes-guns-night-vision-goggles-talibans-new-us-made-war-chest-2021-08-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple Facebook users have since been claiming an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=4974152312598850&amp;set=a.1510117602335689&amp;type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">image<\/a> of a man dangling from a helicopter by a rope shows an instance of the Taliban using such an aircraft to execute someone. One such Facebook post reads in part, \u201cThe Taliban is openly flying our Blackhawk helicopters around with people hanging by their necks from them!\u201d The image seems to be a screen grab of low-quality video footage.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zoo_bear\/status\/1432689894032175106?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">clearer video<\/a> of what appears to be the same incident tweeted by AltNews co-founder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/author\/mzubair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mohammed Zubair<\/a> instead shows the man seeming to be dangling from the helicopter using a harness. In Zubair\u2019s video, the harness looks like it wraps underneath his arms, and the person appears to wave his hand, indicating he was not dead at the time.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"6.5067567567568\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Here\u2019s one more close-up video. The outlet also said American-trained winch operators often wear harnesses in a way that the loop is at their backs, which, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/live\/world-58279900?ns_mchannel=social&amp;ns_source=twitter&amp;ns_campaign=bbc_live&amp;ns_linkname=612e4b133fa7c437236bb678%26Viral%20video%20does%20not%20show%20man%20hanged%20from%20helicopter%262021-08-31T16:46:47.367Z&amp;ns_fee=0&amp;pinned_post_locator=urn:asset:93b354b1-edd2-4a9c-8053-cbf244df3bdf&amp;pinned_post_asset_id=612e4b133fa7c437236bb678&amp;pinned_post_type=share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BBC News<\/a>, could \u201ceasily be mistaken for a noose in poor quality video footage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/af.linkedin.com\/in\/bilal-sarwary-4a513ab2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bilal Sarwary<\/a>, an independent Afghan journalist, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bsarwary\/status\/1432741986545676288?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> that the man dangling from the helicopter was attempting to \u201cinstall [a] Taliban flag from the air.\u201d Sarwary cited an Afghan pilot whom he said confirmed to have been flying the helicopter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"9.7294832826748\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Afghan pilot flying this is someone I have known over the years. In that tweet, Talib Times made <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210830130802\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/TalibTimes\/status\/1432328727376007171\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no mention<\/a> of a hanging or execution via helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>The helicopter in the image shared on Facebook appears to sport an Afghan military marking on its side.
