Officials say teams will eventually visit every middle and high school campus in the district to offer first and second Pfizer doses to eligible students and employees. Children ages 12 to 15 must have an adult present, while 16- and 17-year-olds need a signed consent form. More than 600,000 pupils are enrolled in LAUSD, the second-largest public education system in America.<\/p>\n<p>One of the images showing an LAUSD student was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/Phd2R\">posted<\/a> on Xinhua\u2019s verified Twitter account promoting an article that claims the U.S. report on the origins of COVID-19 is \u201cpoliticized,\u201d citing a Chinese expert. The social media platform identifies the account as \u201cChina state-affiliated media.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.4\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The U.S. report on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> origins, conducted by its intelligence community, is ironic and politicized, South China Morning Post reported citing a Chinese expert <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KMuXdLTcCJ\">https:\/\/t.co\/KMuXdLTcCJ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ij8SLGTPRc\">pic.twitter.com\/Ij8SLGTPRc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 China Xinhua News (@XHNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/XHNews\/status\/1432607076350509057?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 31, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The adolescent\u2019s picture was also included in the linked story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA student receives a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Woodrow Wilson Senior High School in Los Angeles, California, the United States, on Aug. 30, 2021,\u201d the photo caption reads.<\/p>\n<p>In May, Xinhua\u2019s U.S. division registered as a foreign agent \u2013 three years after Trump\u2019s Department of Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/justice-department-has-ordered-key-chinese-state-media-firms-to-register-as-foreign-agents-1537296756\">ordered<\/a> the outlet to do so. Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/china-foreign-influence-spending-317a9be4-8ead-4abf-8ac4-3f27974d7a9d.html\">reported<\/a> at the time, \u201cThe media organ is owned by the Chinese government, run by senior Communist Party officials and widely seen as a Beijing mouthpiece.\u201d According to Axios, the filing under the Foreign Agents Registration Act \u201cdisclosed $8.6 million in payments since March 2020 from Xinhua\u2019s Chinese parent to its U.S. arm, including payments directly to bureaus in Washington, Los Angeles, Houston, San Francisco and Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks largely to its stable of propaganda operations, China is now the top spender on foreign influence operations in the U.S.,\u201d the Axios report said.<\/p>\n<p>Xinhua\u2019s pictures from Monday are available for licensing through Getty Images, which describes itself as \u201cthe largest global distribution network\u201d for premium visual content in the industry. Along with numerous legacy and alternative news outlets, The Daily Wire is a subscriber to the service but has a policy against publishing state-run media images without Disclaimers.<\/p>\n<p>LAUSD <a href=\"https:\/\/achieve.lausd.net\/covidfaq\">announced<\/a> a new mandate earlier this month requiring all teachers and staffers to be fully vaccinated by October 15 as a \u201ccondition of continued employment\/service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the Los Angeles Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-08-30\/la-teachers-union-calls-for-student-covid-vaccine-mandate\">reported<\/a> that the teachers union had demanded mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for all eligible students, but noted that \u201cthere is no indication\u201d the district would go along with the request.<\/p>\n<p>LAUSD\u2019s coronavirus protocols are widely considered among the strictest in the country. As The Daily Wire previously reported, officials informed parents of a new policy in July requiring every student, teacher, and staffer returning to campus take part in weekly testing, regardless of vaccination status.
