The bill, written by Board Chair Nathan Fletcher, claimed misinformation about COVID-19 was the cause behind the rise in deaths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe the people, Nathan Fletcher, will not comply with one more inch of our freedoms being taken away,\u201d asserted a local resident. \u201cThere are no strings on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before the vote, the board opened the floor to public comment. A local gym owner took to the podium as he shared he was arrested, cited and threatened by the country for opening his gym in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out the people who were selling the panic were the same ones selling the cure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach year, 2.8 million people die from the effects of obesity. That is 7,671 people per day, yet we don\u2019t have mandates, recommendations or even a friendly suggestion from our health and government officials to do anything to prevent something that is 100 percent preventable,\u201d he stated. \u201cWhere is the health crisis or the pandemic for obesity in the United States?\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Join us for the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors Meeting at the County Administration Center. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/daIyYIJj9e\">https:\/\/t.co\/daIyYIJj9e<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 SanDiegoCounty (@SanDiegoCounty) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SanDiegoCounty\/status\/1432795964343869443?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 31, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The gym owner went on to highlight just how significant the gap in obesity rate was by noting the obesity rate in America was 12 times higher than that of Japan.
