During an interview on Tuesday, Sullivan said the U.S. intended to continue providing humanitarian aid to the Afghan people, but claimed it wouldn\u2019t go through the Taliban.<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan added the U.S. would provide humanitarian assistance through the World Health Organization, World Food Bank and other non-governmental institutions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Lifesaving medical supplies were successfully airlifted into Afghanistan on Monday, says <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WHO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WHO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This first shipment to arrive in more than a week will replenish health facilities\u2019 reserves &amp; help ensure the continuation of services. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5f91f4IPef\">https:\/\/t.co\/5f91f4IPef<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/h8KMD1moc6\">pic.twitter.com\/h8KMD1moc6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 United Nations (@UN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UN\/status\/1432419055017811968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 30, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In term of helping Afghanistan economically, Sullivan suggested the Taliban could get aide from the U.S. if it were to meet certain conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be about whether they follow through on their commitments, their commitments to safe passage for Americans and Afghan allies, their commitment to not allow Afghanistan to be a base from which terrorists can attack the United States or any other countries,\u201d he explained. \u201c\u2026It\u2019s going to be up to them and we will wait and see by their actions how we end up responding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan claimed the U.S. held leverage over the Taliban in regard to assuring Americans still in Afghanistan would be able to leave.<\/p>\n<h4>MORE NEWS:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/president-trump-expresses-concern-about-potential-9-11-style-attack-under-biden-after-afghanistan-retreat\/\">President Trump Expresses Concern About Potential 9\/11 Style Attack Under Biden After Afghanistan Retreat<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan talks to reporters during the daily news conference in the Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House in Washington, D.C.
