They appear to be the first to have spotted his criminal and immigration history and derailed his entry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report said that Heydari was being held at the Caroline Detention Facility in Bowling Green, Virginia and that it\u2019s not clear how he got on the flight given that it was \u201cunlikely\u201d that he had a Special Immigrant Visa or that he was a refugee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat leaves parole, a power the homeland security secretary has to grant admission to the U.S. in exceptional humanitarian cases,\u201d the report said. \u201cMost Afghans evacuated to the U.S. appear to be parolees rather than having official immigration status.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A senior administration told Dinan last week that evacuees were supposed to be undergoing security screening at transit hubs outside the U.S. before being allowed to enter the country. The report said that either Heydari somehow managed to slip through the cracks of the screening measures or his rape conviction was not enough to keep him off the flight due to the extreme nature of the humanitarian crisis that erupted following Democrat President Joe Biden\u2019s foreign policy decisions in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Times added:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"18\">\n<p><em>Heydari came to the U.S. as a refugee sometime in the previous century and was granted a green card in 2000. A man whose name and age match Heydari\u2018s pleaded guilty to rape in Ada County, Idaho, in 2010. He served more than five years in a state prison and was released on supervision in December 2015, according to state records.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>He was ordered deported by an immigration judge in 2016 and was removed in 2017. When Heydari arrived in the U.S. on the evacuation flight, officials tried to persuade him to cancel his request to enter, formally known as withdrawal of application for admission, but he appears to have refused.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There have already been numerous cases of Afghans being flagged in the security screening process, with The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/immigration\/afghan-immigrate-us-challenges\/2021\/08\/29\/36c3a082-050e-11ec-a266-7c7fe02fa374_story.html\">reporting<\/a> that \u201csome have been sent back to foreign staging locations after being flagged for security concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Defense One reported last week that approximately 100 of the recipients of Special Immigration Visas had run into issues during the security screening process and that one had potential terrorist ties.<\/p>\n<p>Defense One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defenseone.com\/threats\/2021\/08\/kabul-evacuee-potential-isis-ties-detained-qatar-base\/184811\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"15\">\n<p class=\"drop-cap\"><em>Security screeners at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar have detected that at least one of the Afghans who was evacuated from Kabul Airport has potential ties to ISIS, a U.S. official confirmed to Defense One.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Moreover, the Defense Department\u2019s&nbsp;Automated Biometric Identification System&nbsp;has flagged up to 100 of the 7,000 Afghans evacuated as prospective recipients of Special Immigration Visas as potential matches to intelligence agency watch lists, a second official said.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tried to address the report last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rev.com\/blog\/transcripts\/press-secretary-jen-psaki-white-house-press-conference-transcript-august-24-afghanistan-update\">claiming<\/a> that she couldn\u2019t \u201cspeak to one individual, but I can tell you and confirm for you that we take the vetting of any individual who comes to the United States and comes out incredibly seriously and it\u2019s an extensive process.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.2344497607655\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Psaki is asked if mistakes are being made after a report that at least one of the evacuated Afghans has suspected ISIS ties. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ikoiBKLNxf\">pic.twitter.com\/ikoiBKLNxf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TPostMillennial\/status\/1430263445753147406?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 24, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
