All the petty disagreements we have here in \u201cThe States\u201d pale in comparison to what\u2019s happening in other areas of the world.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Thursday, 13 American service members were killed in a suicide bombing outside of the Kabul airport as our military attempt to evacuate Americans trying to leave Afghanistan. It\u2019s a sobering reminder that our members of the military put themselves in harm\u2019s way while protecting all of us at home.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Sunday, the New York Giants played the New England Patriots in their third and final preseason game. Head coach Joe Judge and several of the Giants players wore hats in support of the U.S. military, paying tribute to the 13 soldiers who lost their lives last week.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"4.6530612244898\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Salute to service \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MNFMiMPSzq\">pic.twitter.com\/MNFMiMPSzq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 New York Giants (@Giants) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Giants\/status\/1432108791936557058?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cObviously we lost 13 soldiers this past week in Afghanistan,\u201d Judge <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=swT2dLsYH3Y\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> after the game when asked about the meaning of the hats. \u201cI get pictures all the time of people wearing Giants hats, people wearing Giants T-shirts, letters from all over \u2014 soldiers overseas \u2014 letting us know, \u2018Hey, we\u2019re overseas, but we\u2019re rooting for you.\u2019 It\u2019s great that they\u2019re rooting for our team, I think it\u2019s more important we all acknowledge we\u2019re on the same team and that we\u2019re supporting them as well. So we appreciate everything they do, we want to see them all come home safely, and obviously we don\u2019t want to see anyone lose their lives needlessly.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSo I\u2019d say in terms of wearing the hats, I thought it was a good opportunity to just go ahead and draw some awareness that there were 11 Marines that lost their lives this week. One Naval, one Army as well,\u201d Judge continued. \u201cWe had all three services represented at the coin toss with the captains going out there. Our team, we stay very in tune to the first responders, the military, the people that really make what we do \u2014 which is coach and play a game \u2014 possible.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As we prepare for the start of the NFL season, Judge reminded everyone that football is simply a game, unlike the job that our military does on a daily basis.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think it\u2019s important to keep that in perspective that, look, the reality is, it\u2019s serious to us because it\u2019s serious business, right? That\u2019s what it is. It\u2019s a production business, we\u2019re paid very handsomely to go out there and do a job as a player or a coach, but at the end of the day it is a game, it\u2019s entertainment, right? That\u2019s what it is. Now, they\u2019re playing life or death. It\u2019s important that we keep in perspective what we do and that we stay very grateful and we acknowledge what they\u2019re doing on a daily basis so that we can go out there and do this professionally and be involved with the game.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The 13 soldiers that lost their lives <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/meet-the-hero-u-s-military-members-killed-in-kabul-airport-attack-most-too-young-to-remember-9-11\">were<\/a> Marine Corps Lance Cpl. David Espinoza, Sgt. Nicole Gee,&nbsp;Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss, Marine Corps Cpl. Hunter Lopez, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario, Marine Corps Cpl. Humberto Sanchez, Marine Corps Lance Cpl.
