The militant group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/08\/27\/world\/asia\/who-isis-k-afghanistan.html?name=styln-afghanistan&amp;region=TOP_BANNER&amp;block=storyline_menu_recirc&amp;action=click&amp;pgtype=LegacyCollection&amp;variant=show&amp;is_new=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Islamic State Khorasan<\/a> (ISIS-K), an Islamic State affiliate in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for the explosion, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/isis-claims-responsibility-explosions-kabuls-airport-agenda\/story?id=79661533\">ABC News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook image shows what appears to be a bloody body of water with sneakers in it. \u201cKabul Afghanistan,\u201d reads the image\u2019s caption. \u201cBloody water of innocent afghan civilian in evacuations to US. unfortunately they died in several suicide attack by ISIS.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/27\/fact-check-picture-kabul-airport-attack-bomb\/\">(RELATED: Tweet Claims To Show \u2018Live Picture\u2019 Of The Aug. 26 Kabul Airport Attack)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The photo, however, is unrelated to the recent explosion in Kabul. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found the image included in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etilaatroz.com\/45548\/%D8%AF%D8%B1%DB%8C%D8%A7%DB%8C-%D8%AE%D9%88%D9%86%DB%8C%D9%86%D8%9B-%D9%85%D8%B1%D8%AF%D9%85-%D9%85%DB%8C%E2%80%8C%D9%85%DB%8C%D8%B1%D9%86%D8%AF\/\">blog post<\/a> titled \u201cBloody sea; People are dying,\u201d which explained that a political group in Afghanistan turned the Kabul river red in protest of the increase in civilian casualties from <a href=\"https:\/\/unama.unmissions.org\/sites\/default\/files\/protection_of_civilians_in_armed_conflict_annual_report_2016_final280317.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">armed conflict<\/a> in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The river was dyed red by the political group Afghanistan 1400 in February 2017, over four years before the explosion in Kabul, according to Spanish newspaper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavanguardia.com\/internacional\/20170210\/414226286193\/tinen-de-rojo-el-rio-kabul-en-protesta-por-aumento-de-victimas-del-conflicto.html\">La Vanguardia<\/a>. Footage of the demonstration was posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eufKJAirtt0\">YouTube<\/a> in February 2017 by the state-sponsored <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgtn.com\/\">China Global Television Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Afghanistan 1400 is a \u201cmovement of young, well-educated Afghans who campaign for putting an end to the civil war in Afghanistan,\u201d according to German news outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/international\/world\/a-seed-sown-by-the-west-afghanistan-s-young-liberal-elites-challenge-the-taliban-a-1158572.html\">Der Spiegel<\/a>.
