Fundraising activity is currently at a post-election lull in Washington, giving businesses and trade groups some time to figure out their approach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-paragraph-2Bgue ArticleBody-para-TD_9x\"><strong>Few companies have gone as far as Dow Inc, which said it would withhold donations for the Republican lawmakers\u2019 entire terms in office \u2013 up to six years for those in the Senate.<\/strong> Others said they would withhold donations temporarily, or suspend giving to Republicans and Democrats alike.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Was told Comcast execs held a private meeting today and actually considered pausing all political contributions but in the end went with what was politically correct instead <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rNGSZbAWQv\">https:\/\/t.co\/rNGSZbAWQv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jack Posobiec <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/13.0.1\/72x72\/1f1fa-1f1f8.png\" alt=\"\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\" \/> (@JackPosobiec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JackPosobiec\/status\/1348863378039726081?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 12, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-paragraph-2Bgue ArticleBody-para-TD_9x\">GE\u2019s suspension will last through the end of 2022 and then the employee board that oversees its political action committee will consider requests for support for those lawmakers who opposed certification \u201con a case-by-case basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon said it would discuss concerns \u201cdirectly with those members we have previously supported\u201d before deciding whether to resume contributions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A growing list of companies, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-paragraph-2Bgue ArticleBody-para-TD_9x\">Copper giant Freeport-McMoRan Inc, Ford Motor Co, Microsoft Corp, American Airlines, Alphabet Inc\u2019s Google, Facebook Inc, Goldman Sachs, BP Plc, Smithfield Foods Inc and Union Pacific Corp said they would temporarily suspend donations to Democrats and Republicans alike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-paragraph-2Bgue ArticleBody-para-TD_9x\">Late Monday, Northrop Grumman became the first major defense contractor to temporarily halt all donations.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-paragraph-2Bgue ArticleBody-para-TD_9x\"><em>\u201cWe are pausing political action committee giving and evaluating the way forward,\u201d a spokesman said.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-paragraph-2Bgue ArticleBody-para-TD_9x\">Trade associations, which are among the biggest donors in Washington, are moving more slowly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-paragraph-2Bgue ArticleBody-para-TD_9x\">The National Association of Beer Wholesalers, the National Association of Auto Dealers, and the American Bankers Association said they would re-assess their contribution strategy.
