On Friday, Bonhams auctioneers said the cost single-action revolver was bought over the phone by a person who wished to remain anonymous.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the gun that killed Billy the Kid. It\u2019s one of the best documented antique firearms of the American West,\u201d explained Director Catherine Williamson of Fine Books and Manuscripts. \u201cWe\u2019ve estimated it at two million to three million dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bonhams described the gun as \u201cthe most iconic treasure of early western history\u201d and added the $6.3 million was a world record for any firearm.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2503306\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2503306\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2503306 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-106807256-e1630191842295.jpg\" alt=\"Billy the Kid merchandise is for sale at a tourist store in Lincoln, New Mexico. Following a months long pursuit, Garrett tracked him down to a ranch in New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is possibly the most important, most collectible gun in all of the American West,\u201d Williamson stated. \u201cIt is the gun that Pat Garrett confiscated from a member of Billy the Kid\u2019s gang and then later shot him with.
