Starting September 1, anyone over the age of 21 not prohibited from possessing a gun will be able to carry a handgun openly or concealed without a license or training.<\/p>\n<p>Those purchasing a firearm have usually had to obtain a license to carry, which includes a background check, classroom training and range qualification. Under the bill known as Constitutional Carry however, that license would be made optional.<\/p>\n<p>Although, background checks would still be required when purchasing from a licensed dealer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn a normal month, we teach between about 200 people on license to carry stuff. That\u2019s significantly dropped. We\u2019ve had about a 60 to 70 percent reduction since Constitutional Carry passed,\u201d stated Josh Felker, owner of Lonestar Hangun. \u201cJust make sure you\u2019re getting quality information versus misinformation because the misinformation could still find you in court, could still find you with a ticketable offense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another popular measure soon taking effect includes the Star Spangled Banner Protection Act, where professional sports teams would have contracts with the state requiring them to play the National Anthem before the start of each game.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, no business or government entity would be allowed to require someone to provide a vaccine passport or any other vaccine information under SB 968.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott went on to explain, \u201cwe want to make sure you have the freedom to go where you want without limits.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I issued an Executive Order maintaining the prohibition of vaccine mandates.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, I&#8217;ve added the issue of vaccine mandates to the Special Session agenda.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/txlege?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#txlege<\/a> involvement is important to avoid a patchwork of vaccine mandates across Texas.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mZQJEkUJqJ\">https:\/\/t.co\/mZQJEkUJqJ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/C7BtyN7bRx\">pic.twitter.com\/C7BtyN7bRx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GregAbbott_TX\/status\/1430621367381155841?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>These are only a few of several laws taking effect in the Lone Star State on September 1.<\/p>\n<h4>MORE NEWS:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/2-of-6-calif-families-trapped-in-kabul-return-home\/\">2 Of 6 Calif.
