But we are certainly early in this presidency at this point in time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was somber and, as he said today, outraged at these terrorists taking the lives of service members, and he wanted to make clear to the public \u2014 he wanted to have all the information that he could before he spoke to the American people so he could convey exactly what we knew at the point in time \u2026 and he has wanted very detailed updates about exactly what we know about what is happening on the ground,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Press Briefing by Press Secretary Jen Psaki\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UpGq5ZfCBjQ?start=3035&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>Defense Department officials&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/26\/united-states-marines-killed-kabul-afghanistan-attack\/\">confirmed<\/a> Thursday morning there were <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/26\/pentagon-kabul-airport-explosion-afghanistan-taliban\/\">multiple explosions<\/a> outside the airport\u2019s Abbey Gate entrance. In addition to the explosions, there were <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bsarwary\/status\/1430887666745176081\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports of gunfire<\/a> in the area surrounding the airport. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/26\/joe-biden-generals-bagram-afghanistan-taliban\/\">(RELATED: \u2018Their Best Military Judgment\u2019: Biden Throws Generals Under The Bus For Bagram Withdrawal)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Defense Department has confirmed 12 U.S. soldiers were killed and 15 were injured in the explosions. Afghan health officials estimated there were at least 30 to 40 confirmed total fatalities as a result of the attacks,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2021\/08\/26\/world\/afghanistan-taliban-biden-news\/kabul-aiport-explosion\">according<\/a>&nbsp;to The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, head of the U.S. Central Command, told reporters&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DeptofDefense\/status\/1430976550455889923\">during a briefing<\/a> earlier Thursday that militants associated with ISIS-K were responsible for the attacks.
