Greg Abbott issued an executive order Wednesday, outlawing COVID-19 vaccine mandates irrespective of FDA approval.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.texas.gov\/uploads\/files\/press\/EO-GA-39_prohibiting_vaccine_mandates_and_vaccine_passports_IMAGE_08-25-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">executive order<\/a> maintains Abbott\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/06\/greg-abbott-executive-order-bans-vaccine-passports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">April 2021 decision<\/a> to prohibit state agencies, government entities and businesses from requiring proof of vaccination administered under an \u201cemergency use authorization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new order, however, does not mention the vaccines\u2019 emergency authorization as a reason for the ban. It states that \u201cno governmental entity can compel any individual to receive a COVID 19 vaccine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The need for the updated order reportedly came after the FDA <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/23\/fda-pfizer-biontech-covid-vaccine-full-approval\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">granted<\/a> Monday full approval to the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech for individuals 16 years of age or older, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2021\/08\/25\/texas-covid-19-vaccine-mandates-ban-greg-abbott\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to The Texas Tribune. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/30\/companies-vaccine-mandates-google-facebook-netflix-twitter-delta-lyft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Here Are The Major US Corporations Mandating Vaccines For Their Employees)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"10.362857142857\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I issued an Executive Order maintaining the prohibition of vaccine mandates.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, I\u2019ve added the issue of vaccine mandates to the Special Session agenda.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/txlege?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#txlege<\/a> involvement is important to avoid a patchwork of vaccine mandates across Texas.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mZQJEkUJqJ\">https:\/\/t.co\/mZQJEkUJqJ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/C7BtyN7bRx\">pic.twitter.com\/C7BtyN7bRx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GregAbbott_TX\/status\/1430621367381155841?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The governor said in the order that any decisions on the applicability and legitimacy of state-imposed vaccine mandates should be considered by the state lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVaccine requirements and exemptions have historically been determined by the legislature, and their involvement is particularly important to avoid a patchwork of vaccine mandates across Texas,\u201d Abbott said.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott, who is fully vaccinated,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/17\/greg-abbott-texas-coronavirus-covid-breakthrough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tested positive<\/a> for COVID-19 Aug. 17 amidst a 53% surge in cases in Texas, but said he experienced <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/22\/greg-abbott-tested-negative-covid-19-four-days-positive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no symptoms<\/a>.
