David Miyashiro told school district board members via text message Tuesday that he and other Cajon Valley staff met virtually with U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Bonsall) and his staff about the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongressman Issa and his staff are working diligently to determine the facts on the ground, any bureaucratic barriers that can be removed, and the best ways to help those stranded leave Afghanistan and return home safely,\u201d a staffer from Issa\u2019s office said in an email to the Union-Tribune. \u201cWe won\u2019t stop until we have answers and action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An ABC 7 report <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/socal-students-afghanistan-cajon-valley-union-school-district-san-diego\/10974915\/\">said<\/a> the students were currently in Kabul with their parents after visiting extended relatives \u201con a non-school-sanctioned trip.\u201d When the Taliban took control, some were already en route to the airport.<\/p>\n<p>Jo Alegria, a member of the Cajon Valley School Board, said the district was trying to help expedite the students and their families\u2019 return to America after they could not get to the airport for their scheduled flights.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple families on special visas for U.S. military service reportedly contacted Mike Serban, who heads the Family and Children Engagement (FACE) program, which works with refugee families with children enrolled in the district\u2019s 28 schools. Parents were concerned that students \u201cwould lose a seat in the classroom,\u201d according to the Union-Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey reached out specifically to us to find out (if we could) hold a spot for them in school,\u201d Serban told ABC. \u201cWe said absolutely, it\u2019s the least we can do to ease any of your stress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Serban <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs8.com\/article\/news\/local\/students-from-cajon-valley-union-school-district-stranded-in-afghanistan-san-diego-county\/509-52dfa3dd-b416-47a8-9fb0-b65ac3667159\">told<\/a> CBS8 News that the families were \u201ctrying to find their way to the airport or on an airplane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re working really closely with our federal government officials in reaching out to them, to make connections, to get the two connected so that the federal government knows who\u2019s there and how they can support them to get them back here to the United States,\u201d Serban said.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that the U.S. was on pace to withdraw from Afghanistan by August 31, a deadline a Taliban spokesman said would not be extended.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
