On Tuesday, the Multnomah County Health Department said one person has died and four others have been hospitalized from Rosemont Court.<\/p>\n<p>Officials are urging the more than 100 other residents to temporarily relocate after a number of people at the facility reported symptoms. The request is out of an abundance of caution as legionnaires disease, which is a more severe form of pneumonia, is not particularly contagious.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe good news is it\u2019s not passed person to person,\u201d explained Dr. Jennifer Vines of Multnomah County Health. \u201cIt\u2019s typically from some kind of water source where there\u2019s been some kind of breakdown in water maintenance.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Some residents at Rosemont Court in N Portland are temporarily relocating after 4 people became ill with Legionnaires disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLegionnaires disease is a bacterial infection caused by bacteria called Legionella which spreads typically from a water source,\u201d Dr. Vines.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KOINNews?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KOINNews<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WnQsTXlWFf\">pic.twitter.com\/WnQsTXlWFf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jacquelyn Abad (@JacquelynAbadTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JacquelynAbadTV\/status\/1346672281590714373?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 6, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Officials have said more than 20 residents have already left the home, while others are deciding to stay put.
