Some of the stolen vehicles and weapons appeared in photos and footage online, the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/08\/21\/1029449432\/taliban-afghanistan-us-weapons-captured\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An Aug. 20 image on Facebook claims to show \u201cThe Taliban playing dress up in American soldier uniforms.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/20\/fact-check-inflatable-decoy-planes-not-at-kabul-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: No, Inflatable Decoy Planes Were Not At The Kabul Airport)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The people in the photo, however, are not part of the Taliban. The Associated Press included that photo in a gallery at the top of an August 4 <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/afghanistan-taliban-33daa9c44b76090dca874f5d7b37bbf5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> bearing the headline: \u201cAirstrikes pummel Taliban positions in southern Afghanistan.\u201d The photo\u2019s caption reads, \u201cAfghan Special forces patrol a deserted street during fighting with Taliban fighters, in Lashkar Gah, Helmand province, southern Afghanistan, Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taliban members have previously been documented wearing U.S. military uniforms. A video shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SaeedKhosty\/status\/1427659498429235205\">Twitter<\/a> shows some Taliban militants wearing what appear to be U.S. military uniforms and using guns previously given to Afghanistan\u2019s army by U.S. special forces, Business Insider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/taliban-mocks-america-in-video-showing-its-fighters-wearing-us-uniforms-2021-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another photo circulated online allegedly showing Taliban fighters from its Badri 313 Battalion seemingly imitating the famous Associated Press photo of U.S. soldiers raising the American flag over Iwo Jima during World War II, Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/taliban-unit-wearing-us-gear-mock-iconic-american-wwii-photo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.
