Merkel has described the situation as \u201cbitter, dramatic and terrifying.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Moscow, meanwhile, is seeking to open channels of communication with the Islamist group and appears to be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/will-moscow-shake-hands-with-the-taliban\/a-58913443\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looking to foster some sort of relationship with the Taliban. <\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Merkel called on Russia to communicate with the Taliban that there was a willingness to work with the militant group on humanitarian grounds if they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/taliban-urged-to-allow-safe-passage-out-of-kabul-as-it-happened\/a-58902299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allow the safe evacuation of Western-allied Afghans.<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Merkel called on Russia to communicate with the Taliban that there was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/taliban-urged-to-allow-safe-passage-out-of-kabul-as-it-happened\/a-58902299\"> a willingness<\/a> to work with the militant group on humanitarian grounds if they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/taliban-urged-to-allow-safe-passage-out-of-kabul-as-it-happened\/a-58902299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allow the safe evacuation of Western-allied Afghans. <\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have given information that <b>we in Germany consider it most important to evacuate people who have worked for over 20 years for us<\/b>.
