Her co-founder Tina Tchen was also repeatedly referenced in the New York attorney general\u2019s report but denies any involvement in discrediting Cuomo accusers.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>A report from The New York Times found that not only did Tchen advise the Cuomo administration on dealing with #MeToo allegations, she also reportedly squashed advocacy organizations\u2019 calls on Biden to respond to Tara Reade\u2019s allegations.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>\u201cTina was denying me assistance at the same time as raising funds for the man who sexually assaulted me,\u201d Reade told the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cThat alone should be grounds for her removal from Times Up.\u201d&nbsp;<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A prominent #MeToo organization that waged war on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh covered for both Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and then-presidential candidate Joe Biden, a report by the New York attorney general\u2019s office and reporting by The New York Times shows.<\/p>\n<p>TIME\u2019S UP co-founder Roberta Kaplan resigned Aug. 9 after investigators found that she aided the Cuomo administration in discrediting his accusers, according to a report by the New York attorney general\u2019s office. That report <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/03\/new-york-attorney-general-letitia-james-andrew-cuomo-sexually-harassment-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/03\/new-york-attorney-general-letitia-james-andrew-cuomo-sexually-harassment-women\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1628604556715000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGnopfZEyEoBW8GB4LIocrGTNpllw\">found<\/a> that Cuomo had \u201csexually harassed a number of State employees through unwelcome and unwanted touching\u201d and \u201coffensive and sexually suggestive comments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TIME\u2019S UP co-founder Tina Tchen, who formerly served as Michelle Obama\u2019s chief of staff, was also implicated in the report. But Tchen has vigorously denied any involvement in discrediting any Cuomo accusers, saying she would never work to \u201cdiscredit a survivor in any way\u201d and that she is \u201cfurious that the Governor\u2019s office used me and TIME\u2019S UP as a justification for their defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/08\/21\/us\/times-up-metoo-sexual-harassment.html\">New York Times reported<\/a> Saturday, however, that not only did Tchen advise the Cuomo administration on dealing with #MeToo allegations, she also also reportedly squashed advocacy organizations\u2019 efforts to call on Biden to respond to Reade\u2019s allegations<b> \u2014 <\/b>while raising funds for his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTimes Up has become a joke,\u201d Reade told the Daily Caller News Foundation Monday, \u201ca catch and kill for the powerful elites.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7266732\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"38\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7266732\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7266732 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1228453059-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 11: Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden (center), Dr. Jill Biden (left) and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (right) attend a 9\/11 memorial service at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum on September 11, 2020 in New York City.&nbsp; (Photo by Amr Alfiky \u2013 Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>TIME\u2019S UP And Andrew Cuomo<\/h3>\n<p>A report on the Cuomo investigation released in early August <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/04\/times-up-cuomo-lindsey-boylan-metoo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">found that both Kaplan and TIME\u2019S UP co-founder Tchen<\/a> advised Cuomo\u2019s team on an op-ed discrediting accuser Lindsey Boylan.&nbsp; The op-ed \u201cdenied the legitimacy of Ms. Boylan\u2019s allegations, impugned her credibility, and attacked her claims as politically motivated,\u201d according to the New York attorney general\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p>Former top Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa consulted with the TIME\u2019S UP co-founders about the op-ed and Kaplan read the draft to Tchen, the Times reported. The co-founders reportedly advised against publishing the op-ed, which disparaged accusers, according to the publication.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-axufdj evys1bk0\">DeRosa also asked Kaplan if she would lead the inquiry into Cuomo\u2019s actions or represent the governor, several people involved told the Times. Kaplan said no, according to the publication, but discussed with DeRosa how TIME\u2019S UP might respond to the investigation in a public statement.<\/p>\n<p>Tchen and others told the Times that TIME\u2019S UP leaders decided to issue a statement asking Cuomo to appoint his own independent investigator \u2014 a statement that Kaplan sent to DeRosa before it was issued, the Times reported. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/04\/25\/tara-reade-joe-biden-democrats-media-christine-blasey-ford\/\">(RELATED: \u2018I Want The Same Equal Treatment\u2019: Biden Accuser Tara Reade Tears Into Media, Women\u2019s Groups, Democratic Politicians)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought we were dealing with an office that wanted to do the right thing,\u201d Tchen told the Times when the publication asked her why she went back and forth with the Cuomo administration.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7266731\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"36\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7266731\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7266731 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1078781826-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"NEW YORK, NY - JANUARY 7: New York Governor Andrew Cuomo speaks about reproductive rights at Barnard College, January 7, 2019 in New York City. (Photo by Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tchen also said that she thought Kaplan was not acting in her capacity as chairwoman of TIME\u2019S UP when conferring with the Cuomo administration, though DeRosa said the opposite.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing I did here was rogue for Time\u2019s Up,\u201d Kaplan told the Times regarding her dealings with the governor\u2019s office. \u201cEverything was discussed and expected and fully authorized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tchen has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, saying she would never work to \u201cdiscredit a survivor in any way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a phone call with Robbie Kaplan about a letter she said was being sent by his staffers during which I gave the same advice I give to everyone else: No survivor should be attacked and the truth should be told,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/timesupfoundation.org\/newsroom\/times-up-president-and-ceo-tina-tchen-responds-to-ag-report-mention\/\">said in an Aug. 4 statement<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m furious that the Governor\u2019s office used me and TIME\u2019S UP as a justification for their defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>TIME\u2019S UP And Joe Biden<\/h3>\n<p>Tchen helped host fundraisers for Biden when he became the presumptive Democratic nominee, raising concerns among TIME\u2019S UP board members that the organization would appear to be too aligned with the future president, according to the Times.<\/p>\n<p>And while Tchen was raising money for Biden as a private citizen, the Times reported, she reportedly held back a letter from women\u2019s advocacy groups pushing Biden to respond to accuser Reade\u2019s allegations of sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>One draft of the letter said, according to the Times: \u201cVice President Biden has the opportunity, right now, to model how to take serious allegations seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tchen urged the groups to hold off on the letter in April 2020, sources told the Times, saying she was in touch with the Biden campaign, that Biden would respond to the allegations soon and that the women\u2019s groups should not get in the way.<\/p>\n<p>A TIME\u2019S UP spokeswoman told the Times that Tchen pushed back against the letter because the call to action was not clear.<\/p>\n<p>The same day that Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/01\/joe-biden-sexual-assault-allegation-accusation-tara-reade-morning-joe-scarborough-mika-brzezinski\/\">finally denied<\/a> Reade\u2019s allegations in a May 1 MSNBC interview, Tchen praised Biden\u2019s transparency in a MSNBC interview and TIME\u2019S UP <a href=\"https:\/\/timesupnow.org\/newsroom\/times-up-now-by-no-means-is-this-conversation-in-america-over\/\">released a statement<\/a> calling for \u201ccomplete transparency.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/01\/media-bias-ask-joe-biden-tara-reade-sexual-assault-allegation-accusations-msnbc-morning-joe\/\">(RELATED: It Took 37 Days For Media To Ask Joe Biden About Tara Reade\u2019s Sexual Assault Accusation)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Later on that same day, according to the Times, Tchen joined other Obama administration officials at a virtual Biden fund-raising event.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7266937\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"37\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7266937\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7266937 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1042680744-scaled-1.jpg\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1042680744-scaled-1.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/cdn01.dailycaller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1042680744-180x120.jpg 180w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1042680744-620x413-1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1042680744-768x512-1.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1042680744-1536x1024-1.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GettyImages-1042680744-2048x1365-1.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7266937\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">LOS ANGELES, CA \u2013 SEPTEMBER 28: Activists participate in the \u2018Believe Survivors. (Photo by Emma McIntyre\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/04\/29\/joe-biden-accuser-tara-reade-slams-times-up-movement-sexual-assault-partisan-issue\/\">TIME\u2019S UP<\/a> reportedly no longer has control over the TIME\u2019S UP Legal Defense Fund operations, according to the defense fund\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/timesupfoundation.org\/work\/times-up-legal-defense-fund\/\">website,<\/a> though Tchen <a href=\"https:\/\/timesupnow.org\/about\/our-staff\/\">serves<\/a> as president and CEO of both TIME\u2019S UP and the TIME\u2019S UP Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The TIME\u2019S UP Legal Defense Fund\u2019s public relations firm is SKDKnickerbocker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skdknick.com\/staff\/anita-dunn\/\">directed by Democratic strategist Anita Dunn<\/a>. Biden chose Dunn to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/07\/us\/politics\/joe-biden-anita-dunn.html\">effectively control<\/a> his presidential campaign in February 2020, and she only recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/08\/12\/biden-adviser-anita-dunn-white-house-504216\">stepped down<\/a> from her role as White House senior advisor on Aug. 12.<\/p>\n<p>Kendra Barkoff Lamy, who leads SKDK\u2019s communications team for the TIME\u2019S UP Legal Defense Fund, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skdknick.com\/staff\/kendra-barkoff\/\">formerly served<\/a> as press secretary to Biden when he was vice president.<\/p>\n<p>SKDK <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skdknick.com\/skdk-work-for-biden-for-america-and-the-naacp-honored-with-six-pollies\/\">also worked on behalf<\/a> of the Biden campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?data_type=processed&amp;committee_id=C00703975&amp;recipient_name=SKD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">federal records show<\/a>, and partner Doug Thornell said in May that the firm was \u201chonored to have played a role in the historic victory of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials at SKDK <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/04\/12\/us\/politics\/joe-biden-tara-reade-sexual-assault-complaint.html\">told the Times in April 2020<\/a> that Dunn has personally never worked with the TIME\u2019S UP Legal Defense Fund and was not told about Reade\u2019s request. Biden has vigorously and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/12\/joe-biden-george-stephanopoulos-good-morning-america-tara-reade\/\">repeatedly denied<\/a>&nbsp;these allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Her accusations garnered national attention in late April 2020 and early May 2020, but subsequent media <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/22\/tara-reade-joe-biden-alexandra-mccabe-trials\/\">reporting<\/a> on her academic credentials and her turbulent past casted doubts on her credibility. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/16\/tara-reade-academic-record-media\/\">(RELATED: Corporate Media Said Biden\u2019s Accuser Lied About Her Background. Records Show It\u2019s Not That Simple)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a Monday phone interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation, Reade praised the Times report for digging into TIME\u2019S UP and the organization\u2019s conflicting behavior towards #MeToo allegations, though the Biden accuser noted that the Times did not reach out to her for its story.<\/p>\n<p>Reade condemned TIME\u2019S UP for protecting \u201cpowerful men while leaving survivors like myself and others vulnerable.\u201d <strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/04\/tara-reade-joe-biden-jen-psaki-metoo-andrew-cuomo\/\">RELATED: Tara Reade Accuses Psaki Of \u2018Misleading The Public\u2019 By Saying Her Allegations Were \u2018Heavily Litigated During The Campaign\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey not only suppressed our stories but used their access to power to go after us and discredit us,\u201d she said. \u201cIt is the most vile use of donations to retraumatize the very population they were to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reade insisted that in addition to Kaplan, Tchen should also resign from her position at TIME\u2019S UP. She also said there should be an audit of the entire organization and its legal defense fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTina was denying me assistance at the same time as raising funds for the man who sexually assaulted me,\u201d Reade said. \u201cThat alone should be grounds for her removal from Times Up. Then add on her blatant pandering to Cuomo and assisting them to smear Lindsay Boylan it is a pattern of misconduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only reason Tina is apologizing is because she was caught,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<h3>TIME\u2019S UP Wages War For Christine Blasey Ford<\/h3>\n<p>When Christine Blasey Ford came forward in September 2018 and accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in high school, TIME\u2019S UP called on Kavanaugh to resign, publicly stood by Ford, and urged followers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/2132578240149628\/\">join a national walkout<\/a> in support of his accusers.<\/p>\n<p>Ford did not respond to requests for comment for this story.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2018, the organization tweeted a link to a Facebook event co-hosted by a slew of advocacy organizations, including Planned Parenthood Action and the National Women\u2019s Law Center, which operates TIME\u2019S UP.
