It\u2019s in their interest for them to go through. So, we know of no circumstance where American citizens are \u2014 carrying an American passport \u2014 are trying to get through to the airport. But we will do whatever needs to be done to see to it they get to the airport.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During that same press conference, Biden was asked why U.S. forces weren\u2019t venturing beyond the airport.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhy haven\u2019t you ordered the military to expand the security perimeter around the Kabul airport?\u201d asked PBS NewsHour\u2019s Meredith Lee. \u201cDo you have any plans to do so, given that it will likely require more U.S. troops? And are you considering rescue operations to recover Americans and Afghan allies stuck behind Taliban checkpoints?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe last answer is yes \u2014 to the last question.
