The investigation follows an ethics <a href=\"https:\/\/cadem.org\/california-democratic-party-files-ethics-complaint-against-larry-elder-for-refusing-to-disclose-his-financial-holdings\/\">complaint<\/a> filed with the watchdog by the California Democratic Party, alleging Elder failed to properly report his personal finances and demanding he disclose all his sources of income.<\/p>\n<p>The California Democratic Party cited an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-08-13\/recall-candidate-larry-elder-disclose-finances\">investigation<\/a> by the Los Angeles Times earlier this month showing that Elder appeared not to have properly listed his business holdings when filing his Statement of Economic Interests, a disclosure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fppc.ca.gov\/Form700.html\">form<\/a>&nbsp;required for all elected officials and candidates. Elder did not disclose his stake in Laurence A. These investigations are very common in campaign world,\u201d Ying Ma, a spokesman for the Elder campaign, told the Times.<\/p>\n<p>Elder could face a $5,000 penalty for each violation of disclosure requirements, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fppc.ca.gov\/content\/dam\/fppc\/NS-Documents\/TAD\/Form%20700\/2020-21\/Ref_Pamphlet_2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FPPC<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/11\/nancy-pelosi-gavin-newsom-recall-election-children-other-living-things\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Pelosi Calls Newsom \u2018A Great Governor,\u2019 Says Recall Election Is \u2018Not Good For Children Or Other Living Things\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A popular conservative radio host, Elder is the current frontrunner in California\u2019s Sept 14. recall election, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/california-recall-polls\/\">FiveThirtyEight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles Times\u2019 editorial board has been critical of Elder, describing him as \u201cworse than others\u201d when compared to other recall candidates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only does he have no experience in elective office, Elder is a Trumpian ideologue who has called climate change a \u2018crock\u2019 and said there should be no minimum wage,\u201d the paper\u2019s editors wrote in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2021-08-13\/editorial-recall-the-governor-not-just-no-hell-no\">op-ed<\/a>&nbsp;earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Erika Smith, a columnist for the Times, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/20\/larry-elder-black-face-white-supremacy-la-times-columnist\/\">described<\/a>&nbsp;Elder as \u201cthe black face of white supremacy\u201d in an op-ed Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
