According to reports, the incident happened early Saturday evening as the New Orleans police officer was visiting the city.<\/p>\n<p>The armed suspects reportedly approached a group of people eating outside and demanded their belongings. One suspect opened fire and hit the officer as well as another individual of the group.<\/p>\n<p>The officer was declared dead at the scene. Houston\u2019s Police Department Chief Troy Finner said the incident made no sense and issued a fiery warning to the suspects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re better than this,\u201d he asserted. \u201cI\u2019m not going to let by as the chief, and everybody that\u2019s standing with me right now, and let a few little thugs tear down our city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The second person shot was reported to be in critical condition.
