Tuesday, attorneys for Lisa Montgomery urged the President to change her sentence to life in prison just a week before her scheduled execution on death row.<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery was convicted of kidnapping and strangling a pregnant woman in 2007. Her lawyers argued that she suffered as a victim of neglect and repeated sexual torture early on in life, causing her to be mentally ill and out of touch with reality.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s why we&#8217;re asking now President Trump to please hear our plea,&#8221; Montgomery&#8217;s attorney Kelley Henry said. &#8220;He can be a hero in this case. He can be a hero for women who&#8217;ve been victims of sex trafficking.
