It originates from a Vietnamese TikTok user who often makes videos using special effects.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OrJxqEwIcxU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Footage<\/a> of Afghans running alongside and trying to hold onto a U.S. military plane has been widely shared since the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/afghanistan-kabul-taliban-79d677c29b1e134437842217e469b481\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a> reported. Some Afghans attempting to escape the country died falling from planes after they took off, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/08\/17\/us\/politics\/afghans-deaths-us-plane.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A viral video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CSu9m30DIe5\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=embed_video_watch_again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inaccurately claims<\/a> in an Instagram post to show an Afghan man \u201cgoing to desperate lengths to get away from the Taliban.\u201d In the video, a man lays on the engine of a plane\u2019s wing, but his hair and clothes do not appear to be moving much, indicating that it is actually a digitally altered clip. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/17\/fact-cnn-taliban-takeover-afghanistan-violent-mostly-peaceful\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did CNN Describe The Taliban Takeover Of Afghanistan As \u2018Violent But Mostly Peaceful\u2019 In A Chyron?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The digitally altered video, previously debunked by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boomlive.in\/fact-check\/afghanistan-aircraft-afghans-flee-taliban-viral-video-digital-creation-14341\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boom Live<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/fact-check\/story\/man-clinging-on-to-wing-afghanistan-taliban-kabul-airport-1842101-2021-08-18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">India Today<\/a>, appears to originate from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@huyquanhoa\/video\/6861878552464264450?referer_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.snopes.com%2F&amp;referer_video_id=6861878552464264450&amp;refer=embed&amp;is_copy_url=0&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;sender_web_id=6994827416624743942\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TikTok video<\/a> posted by the user @huyquanhoa in August 2020. It can also be found on creator Huy Xu\u00e2n Mai\u2019s verified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/huyquanhoa\/videos\/3333800896740402\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook page<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vGu2rYDZ0V0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube channel<\/a>. The creator did not link it to the Afghanistan crisis in any of those instances.<\/p>\n<p>His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/huyquanhoa\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook profile<\/a> indicates that he is from Vietnam. He mentions using Photoshop on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCvX54uYidNn2uDpRTdUJ5MQ\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cAbout\u201d section<\/a> of his YouTube channel, and a review of his TikTok account found that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@huyquanhoa?referer_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.snopes.com%2F&amp;referer_video_id=6861878552464264450&amp;refer=embed&amp;is_copy_url=0&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;sender_web_id=6994827416624743942\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">often posts<\/a> videos that involve special effects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video shared on Instagram purportedly shows an Afghan man attempting to escape the Taliban by riding on an airplane wing.
