He has strongly criticized the former president and warned of potentially disastrous consequences if any other social media forum gave the president a platform.<\/p>\n<p>On January 8, O\u2019Sullivan <a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/ebo\/date\/2021-01-08\/segment\/01\">told<\/a> Erin Burnett that the permanent Twitter ban is a \u201cday of reckoning for the role of social media in the United States.\u201d He added, \u201cIf Trump goes to a platform\u201d and his supporters follow him \u201cto another platform, that could be dragging them into even more danger \u2014 a more perilous situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet the journalist and Trump critic immediately received predictable criticism for pointing out the apparent discrepancy in the Twitter policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe former President has done more damage to the United States,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MichaelJStern1\/status\/1427620864573460487\">wrote<\/a> USA Today columnist Michael J. Stern. \u201cI\u2019m good.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.0551181102362\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The former President has done more damage to the United States.  <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m good.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael J. Quit with the BS vapid talking points.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat seems like an odd comment from a journalist,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jpete008\/status\/1427629131420905473\">claimed<\/a> another account.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter\u2019s terms of service state, \u201cThere is no place on Twitter for violent organizations, including terrorist organizations, violent extremist groups, or individuals who affiliate with and promote their illicit activities. \u2026 Under this policy, you can\u2019t affiliate with and promote the illicit activities of a terrorist organization or violent extremist group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Daily Wire\u2019s Joseph Curl recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-barred-from-twitter-but-official-taliban-spokesman-allowed-to-tweet\">reported<\/a>, \u201cMujahid\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Zabehulah_M33\">account<\/a>&nbsp;is not verified but appears authentic. He has more than 287,000 followers and is regularly cited by major news outlets.\u201d Mujahid <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Zabehulah_M33\/status\/1426898383143378955\">tweeted<\/a> the details of the Taliban\u2019s military conquest of Afghanistan on Sunday:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"19\">\n<p><em>The city of Parun, the capital of Nuristan province, was also conquered.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Moments ago, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate entered the city of Parun, the capital of Nuristan province, and seized the provincial building, the police headquarters, the intelligence center and all its accessories.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A large number of weapons, tools and equipment in the hands of the Mujahideen.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Taliban is reportedly hunting and lynching Afghanis who allied themselves with the United States over the last 20 years. Sources on the ground say that Taliban representatives are \u201cgoing house-to-house and that they sent a transmission out saying they had plans for the people that operated with America,\u201d retired Marine Sergeant Ryan Rogers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/taliban-going-house-to-house-in-afghanistan-hanging-people-who-worked-with-us-source\">told<\/a> Fox News on Thursday. \u201cHe told me yesterday they hung three [Afghan National Army] commanders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conservative actor James Woods highlighted the issue on Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realjameswoods\/status\/1428044302643449857\">retweeting<\/a> the brutal details of an execution reportedly committed by Taliban forces in Afghanistan with the message, \u201cBut it didn\u2019t jeopardize their Twitter account, did it?\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.2255639097744\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">But it didn\u2019t jeopardize their Twitter account, did it? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lZeqtETKuf\">pic.twitter.com\/lZeqtETKuf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealJamesWoods\/status\/1428044302643449857?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 18, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mujahid is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/7-twitter-accounts-that-have-promoted-violence-but-havent-been-banned\">one of several<\/a> controversial individuals whose accounts remain active on the social media site.
