They cannot be trusted.\u201d <\/span><span>\u2014<\/span><span> Lynne O\u2019Donnell<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>History Of The Taliban<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Lynne O\u2019Donnell, former bureau chief in Kabul for the Associated Press and AFP, told Morning Wire the Taliban emerged during the civil war in Afghanistan that followed the departure of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s. The group initially grew with promises of peace for the region, a message that resonated with many Afghani people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Taliban, however, took over with their own brand of rough justice and a medieval interpretation of Islam that was incredibly strict. But O\u2019Donnell says there is no reason to believe they\u2019ll actually give women more freedom now.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She told Morning Wire how she recently spent time in a region where the Taliban had briefly held control. We\u2019ve seen those hundreds of people packed into a C-17. You\u2019ve seen Afghans falling\u2013\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>President Joe Biden: \u201cThat was four days ago, five days ago.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ABC Interview<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>On Wednesday President Joe Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/full-transcript-abc-news-george-stephanopoulos-interview-president\/story?id=79535643\"><span>spoke<\/span><\/a><span> with George Stephanopoulos in a contentious interview on \u201cGood Morning America.\u201d The president said his administration planned for every contingency, and that he doesn\u2019t think they could have done anything better.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Stephanopoulos later said Biden sounded defiant and unapologetic, after appearing to absolve himself and his administration of any blame in the crisis. The president has since been widely criticized for not acknowledging the human toll of his policies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reports: Biden Ignored Military Advice<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Stephanopoulos asked the president about reports that he did not follow the advice of his generals. \u201cBut your military advisors did not tell you, \u2018No, we should just keep 2,500 troops. It\u2019s been a stable situation for the last several years. We can do that. We can continue to do that\u2019?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNo. No one said that to me that I can recall,\u201d Biden answered.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Wall Street Journal, however, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/biden-rebuffed-commanders-advice-in-decision-to-leave-afghanistan-11618696597\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> names of the senior military brass who disagreed with him in April. They were General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; General Scott Miller, who leads NATO forces in Afghanistan; and General Frank McKenzie, the commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East. The secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, seemed to confirm those concerns in an April 14th press conference as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Taliban Seizes U.S. Military Equipment<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>On Tuesday, Biden\u2019s <\/span><span>National Security Advisor<\/span><span>, <\/span><span>Jake Sullivan, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iH79HD6sFm0\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span>, \u201cWe don\u2019t have a complete picture, obviously, of where every article of defense materials has gone, but certainly a fair amount of it has fallen into the hands of the Taliban, and obviously, we don\u2019t have a sense that they are going to readily hand it over to us at the airport.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Axios <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/taliban-war-chest-afghanistan-military-82d98a06-ad8c-4617-b652-0ed11dd5f46f.html?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=editorial&amp;utm_content=world-talibanwarchest\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> Thursday evening that the Biden administration is considering launching airstrikes to destroy American military equipment left behind during the withdrawal.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_278785\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"31\">\n<div id=\"attachment_279155\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"32\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-279155\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-279155 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Baby-.jpeg\" alt width=\"846\" height=\"475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/08\/Baby-.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/08\/Baby--300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 846px) 100vw, 846px\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-279155\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Catherine Delahaye\/Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>3) <b>Pro-Life Law Challenged In Court<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><b>The Topline:<\/b><span> A pro-life bill that would criminalize providing abortions based on genetic factors like Down syndrome, race, or sex, is facing a legal challenge from pro-abortion advocates.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Law<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/AZ\/text\/SB1457\/id\/2260815\"><span>law<\/span><\/a><span> makes it illegal for a doctor to provide an abortion if the doctor is aware that the abortion is being sought explicitly because of a genetic abnormality, the baby\u2019s race, or the baby\u2019s sex.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It also criminalizes the coercion of mothers to obtain an abortion on the same basis using force or threat or force, as well as the solicitation to finance such an abortion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Example<\/b><span>: If a boyfriend or husband makes physical threats against a mother in order to coerce her to get an abortion based on a condition such as down syndrome, or the sex of the baby, that person is guilty of a class 3 felony.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The law also allows the husband of the mother, or her parents (if she is under 18), to sue for damages on behalf of the aborted baby if the doctor violated this clause.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Funding Limitations<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The law prohibits public schools and colleges from facilitating abortions on campus except to save the life of the mother, and it prohibits government funds from being used for abortions unless the mother\u2019s life is in danger. It also prohibits public funds from going to research projects involving abortions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Lawsuit&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>A federal <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/reproductiverights.org\/case-arizona-abortion-reason-ban-personhood\/\"><span>lawsuit<\/span><\/a><span> is trying to overturn the law, including the personhood provision in it that would grant full legal personhood to an unborn child at every stage of development. That provision is seen as a significant threat to abortion in the state.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Similar Pro-Life Laws&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The 8<\/span><span>th<\/span><span> Circuit Court of Appeals struck down an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/wireStory\/federal-appeals-court-blocks-sweeping-missouri-abortion-law-78175451\"><span>abortion law<\/span><\/a><span> in Missouri in June that would have banned abortion at or after the eighth week of pregnancy and included a provision that would ban a woman from getting an abortion because the baby has Down Syndrome.
