Twitter users who follow Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen are <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BenjaminGoggin\/status\/1427967820936142850?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prompted<\/a> to follow &#8220;a set of accounts that work well&#8221; with Shaheen\u2019s, including those of other Taliban members.<\/p>\n<p>The Taliban <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/taliban-leaders-used-twitter-and-whatsapp-to-help-capture-kabul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">used Twitter<\/a> to spread propaganda and establish control over Kabul as the United States withdrew from the Afghan capital. Twitter\u2019s rules ban &#8220;hateful conduct&#8221; and &#8220;threatening or promoting terrorism,&#8221; but the company has not announced whether it considers the Taliban a terrorist organization. Twitter permanently <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2020\/suspension\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">banned<\/a> President Donald Trump in the wake of the Jan. 6 riots &#8220;due to the risk of further incitement of violence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Twitter has said it is &#8220;actively enforcing its policies&#8221; but did not tell the <em>Washington Free Beacon <\/em>whether it planned to turn off auto-recommendation for known Taliban accounts.
