(ANDREW HARNIK\/POOL\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 6:50 PM PT \u2013 Wednesday, August 18, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>The State Department has released a <a href=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/E9Eu9wiVEAArYjt?format=jpg&amp;name=900x900\">joint statement<\/a> with a group of 20 additional countries, calling to protect the rights of women in Afghanistan. In the statement on Wednesday, U.S. diplomats said the Taliban must not violate the human rights of women and young girls after its takeover of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>The Department added the Taliban must also respect women\u2019s rights to education, work and freedom of movement.
