For instance, one Facebook post last week <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/11\/fact-check-kathy-hochul-nancy-pelosi-stepsister\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">baselessly alleged<\/a> she is the stepsister of Kathy Hochul, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/08\/10\/nyregion\/kathy-hochul-cuomo-ny-governor.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">set to become<\/a> the first female governor of New York on Aug. 24. Another recent post <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/18\/fact-check-nancy-pelosi-resigning-join-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">falsely alleged<\/a> Pelosi is resigning from her position to join former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Now, a viral Instagram post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CSXaJjLFsZ8\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=c5742814-5964-4338-b0b1-236e7bd0cea8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alleges<\/a> the House speaker has been executed, citing the U.S. military as the source of its information. That claim, however, is false.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the post attempting to credit the military as its source, there is <a href=\"https:\/\/search.usa.gov\/search?query=Pelosi%20&amp;affiliate=defensegov&amp;utf8=%26%23x2713%3B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no mention<\/a> of Pelosi being arrested, convicted or executed for any crime on the Department of Defense\u2019s website. A search of Department of Justice press releases also turned up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/news?keys=Nancy+Pelosi&amp;items_per_page=25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no announcement<\/a> of Pelosi\u2019s supposed death.<\/p>\n<p>A Defense Department spokesperson told Check Your Fact via an email that there is \u201cno truth\u201d to the post\u2019s claim. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/17\/fact-check-william-barr-not-executed-military\/\">(RELATED: No, William Barr Has Not Been Executed By The Military)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Pelosi is a prominent figure in American politics and the second person in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/us-presidential-line-succession\">presidential line of succession<\/a>. Presumably, her death would be widely covered in the media, yet there are no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=Pelosi+executed&amp;rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS820US820&amp;oq=Pelosi+executed&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2.2805j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">credible news reports<\/a> about such an incident occurring.<\/p>\n<p>The House speaker has also made public appearances since Aug. 9, the date the Instagram post made the claim. Last week she and California Rep. Maxine Waters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tjgDQMEmks0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">visited<\/a> a school in Los Angeles while promoting a child tax credit, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailynews.com\/2021\/08\/12\/rep-maxine-waters-speaker-of-the-house-nancy-pelosi-tout-child-credit-tax-at-south-los-angeles-education-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Daily News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She also participated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/19thnews.org\/summit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">virtual summit<\/a> hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poynter.org\/business-work\/2020\/meet-the-19th-a-new-gender-and-politics-news-organization-by-women-and-for-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The 19th<\/a> on Monday.
