I certainly respect and have the utmost respect for this guy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Bally Sports Detroit released a statement saying they were \u201cextremely disappointed\u201d by the remarks, and that Morris had been suspended indefinitely.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"8\">\n<p><em><span>Bally Sports Detroit is extremely disappointed with the remarks analyst Jack Morris made during last night\u2019s Tigers game. Jack has been suspended indefinitely from the Tigers broadcasts and will be undergoing bias training to educate him on the impact of his comments and how he can be a positive influence in a diverse community. We have a zero-tolerance policy for bias or discrimination and deeply apologize for the insensitive remark.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The Tigers put out a statement of their own, supporting the decision to suspend Morris.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><em><span>The Detroit Tigers take immense pride in honoring the diverse cultures that make up our players, coaching staff, front office, fan base and community. We are deeply disappointed by the comments made by Jack Morris during the broadcast last night. We fully support Bally Sports Detroit\u2019s decision and their on-going commitment to ensure that all personnel are held to the highest standards of personal conduct.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.9918367346939\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jack Morris has been \u201csuspended indefinitely from Tigers broadcasts and will be undergoing bias training,\u201d Bally Sports Detroit says. <\/p>\n<p>Statements from the team and network: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/m3tFgJbgbd\">pic.twitter.com\/m3tFgJbgbd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brad Galli (@BradGalli) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BradGalli\/status\/1428067776736935942?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 18, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Morris is not the first MLB announcer to find himself in hot water over what was considered a racially insensitive comment.<\/p>\n<p><span>In June, <\/span><span>Arizona Diamondbacks broadcaster and former manager Bob Brenly found himself in trouble after attempting to make a joke about New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m sure that is the same du-rag that Tom Seaver [former Mets great] used to wear when he pitched for the Mets,\u201d Brenly said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Brenly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TylerKepner\/status\/1400155354516836354\"><span>apologized<\/span><\/a><span> the following day, pledging to attend sensitivity training after conversations with the Arizona organization. He then announced that he would be taking the next week off from the booth in order to \u201clisten, reflect and devote\u201d his attention to awareness training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring last night\u2019s game, I made a poor attempt at humor that was insensitive and wrong. I apologize to Marcus Stroman and have reached out directly to share those thoughts.
