Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN).<\/p>\n<p>Both representatives have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/rep-jim-jordan-pelosi-threw-me-off-jan-6-commission-after-i-pressed-about-her-role-in-security-breakdown\">publicly criticized<\/a> Pelosi for rejecting them from serving on the committee and questioned the House speaker\u2019s alleged role in the security lapse on January 6.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to The 19th News, Pelosi called Jordan and Banks \u201cclowns,\u201d \u201coutrageous,\u201d and \u201cnot serious\u201d and accused them of perpetuating the so-called \u201cBig Lie,\u201d though she did not offer examples aside from the Republicans&nbsp;objecting to the Electoral College vote certification, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrats-objected-to-electoral-vote-certification-in-2000-2004-2016\">Democrats<\/a> have also done in the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll see what the committee finds out about them,\u201d Pelosi told the The 19th News, referring to the Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewsolender\/2021\/08\/16\/pelosi-suggests-jan-6-committee-scrutinizing-gop-reps-jordan-and-banks\/?sh=5bfee7bf3efb\">noted<\/a> by Forbes, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MD) made it clear that \u201cnothing will be off-limits\u201d for the panel to investigate. Moreover, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) \u201csaid he <a class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewsolender\/2021\/08\/01\/kinzinger-supports-capitol-riot-panel-subpoenaing-top-republicans\/?sh=27bc0a0d1575\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewsolender\/2021\/08\/01\/kinzinger-supports-capitol-riot-panel-subpoenaing-top-republicans\/?sh=27bc0a0d1575\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewsolender\/2021\/08\/01\/kinzinger-supports-capitol-riot-panel-subpoenaing-top-republicans\/?sh=27bc0a0d1575\" aria-label=\"supports\">supports<\/a> subpoenaing top House Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kinzinger and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) are the sole Republicans on the committee and both vociferous critics of former President Donald Trump. Rep. Denver&nbsp;Riggleman (D-VA) was tapped earlier this month to advise the committee.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Jordan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/rep-jim-jordan-pelosi-threw-me-off-jan-6-commission-after-i-pressed-about-her-role-in-security-breakdown\">said<\/a> Pelosi bounced him from the select committee&nbsp;for pressing the Democrat about her alleged role in the security breakdown at the Capitol on January 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real question is, and I\u2019ve said this many times, why weren\u2019t those guys who testified today and all the other Capitol Hill police who protect us and protect Capitol Hill, why weren\u2019t they given more help?\u201d Jordan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/rep-jordan-pelosi-jan-6-capitol-commission-fundamental-questions\">told<\/a> Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy wasn\u2019t more help there that day? And the only person who can answer that question is the speaker of the United States House of Representatives,\u201d the Republican continued. \u201cAnd I think she thought we were going to keep raising that question, and that\u2019s why she didn\u2019t put me on [the committee].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re just asking a fundamental question,\u201d Jordan said. \u201cWhy wasn\u2019t there a proper security posture on January 6, and what have we done to correct that? And to make sure it doesn\u2019t happen in the future. I think those are fundamental questions. It\u2019s not about blame. The blame resides with the people who did wrong. They should be prosecuted and they are being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Fox News, Pelosi, as House speaker, \u201cdoes appoint the House sergeant-at-arms, who is on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscp.gov\/the-department\/oversight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Capitol Police Board<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;that oversees the department.
