( MARK SCHIEFELBEIN\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 6:24 PM PT \u2013 Tuesday, August 17, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Communist China has sent warships to the Taiwan Strait in an act of aggression against Taiwan and the U.S. According to Tuesday reports, China has been holding assault drills involving warships and military jets near its maritime border with Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing claimed the drills came in response to unspecified \u201cprovocations\u201d and \u201cexternal interference.\u201d In addition, Chinese state media reported Biden\u2019s withdrawal from Afghanistan suggested the U.S. would not be willing to defend Taiwan from a potential Chinese invasion.<\/p>\n<p>China also reiterated its intent to seize Taiwan sooner or later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one should underestimate the strong determination, will and ability of the Chinese people to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,\u201d expressed Spokesperson Hua Chunying of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China. \u201cNo matter how much weaponry the U.S. provides to Taiwan, it will never change the general trend of cross-strait relations, let alone stop the process of China\u2019s reunification.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING\u2014<br \/>China has deployed warships &amp; fighter jets off Taiwan Coast &amp; Iran is accelerating uranium enrichment to near weapons-grade.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s Afghanistan is already registering aftershocks.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tricia Flanagan (R-NJ) (@NewDayForNJ) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewDayForNJ\/status\/1427665818876321793?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Officials in Taipei said Chinese warplanes entered Taiwan\u2019s airspace in effort to intercept its electronic communications with U.S. and Japanese forces.
