It is clear President Trump recognized the immense flaws of the bill but was backed into a corner due to Congress running out the clock and sending him an all-or-nothing proposal.\u201d (Texas Speaker of the House Dennis Bonnen,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myhighplains.com\/news\/trump-backed-into-a-corner-texan-republicans-react-to-presidents-stimulus-signing-and-theyre-not-all-happy\/\">R-Angleton, Dec. 28.)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bill they are now planning to send back to my desk is much different than anticipated<em>. It really is a disgrace<\/em>\u2026 it has almost nothing to do with COVID. This bill contains $85.5 million for assistance to Cambodia, $134 million to Burma, $1.3 billion for Egypt and the Egyptian military\u2026$25 million for democracy and gender programs in Pakistan \u2026$1 billion\u00a0<em>for the Smithsonian and an additional $154 million for the National Gallery of Art. Likewise, these facilities are essentially not open.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>(President Trump, Dec. 22.)<\/p>\n<p>Alas, the \u201cbacking into the corner\u201d seems to have worked. At first glance, the $1 billion for a venerable U.S. institution like the Smithsonian appears as among the least outrageous of the long list of outrages against the American taxpayer in this bill.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the Smithsonian (originally titled the &#8220;United States National Museum&#8221;) \u201cgrew-in-office\u201d as the saying goes, and morphed long ago into a classically \u201cwoke\u201d instrument of America-bashing by its elitist and guilt-obsessed patrons and administrators.<\/p>\n<p>As exhibit A, we present the Smithsonian Institution\u2019s sanctification of Stalinist terrorist and mass-murderer Ernesto \u201cChe\u201d Guevara\u2014not renown for his admiration of American institutions, achievements and qualities, or as a well-wisher for her citizens. To wit:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe U.S. is the great enemy of mankind!\u201d (Che Guevara, 1961.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgainst those hyenas there is no option but extermination!\u201d (Che Guevara, 1961.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must keep our hatred (against the U.S.) alive and fan it to paroxysm!\u201d (Che Guevara, 1965.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the nuclear missiles had remained (in Cuba) we would have fired them against the heart of the U.S. including New York City. The victory of socialism is well worth millions of Atomic victims.\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hfontova.com\/che.html\">(Che Guevara, 1962.)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not that you\u2019d get a hint of any of the above sentiments from a Smithsonian writer\u2019s article regarding his motorcycle tour of Cuba with Che Guevara\u2019s son Ernesto last year. Instead:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe image that lasted from the trip (to Cuba) was from the museum in Santa Clara, where the photograph showed Che Guevara smiling as he fed the baby Ernesto with a milk bottle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aaaw\u2026.sniffle, sniffle. \u00a0I\u2019m telling you that Che Guevara was a veritable Mr. Mom, with shades of Ward Cleaver and Fred Mac Murray as Steven Douglas in &#8220;My Three Sons&#8221;!<\/p>\n<p>You see, amigos: last year an author for Smithsonian.com went on a motorcycle tour of Cuba with Ernesto \u201cChe\u201d Guevara\u2019s son Ernesto as a tour guide. The passage above pretty much sums up the hard-nosed \u201cinsights\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/travel\/roaring-through-cuba-with-che-guevara-son-180973314\/\">provided by the article.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSanta Clara was the site of Che\u2019s greatest victory during the Cuban revolutionary war of 1956-59,\u201d the Smithsonian author writes about the utterly bogus Cuban guerrilla &#8220;war.\u201d \u201cIt was then the crossroads of the island\u2019s transportation system and a key strategic goal in the armed rebellion led by Fidel Castro against the\u00a0<em>U.S.-backed dictator<\/em>\u00a0Fulgencio Batista.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Consider that in an article written from and about a serious sh*thole of a Stalinist nation, whose article subject (Che Guevara) co-founded a regime that jailed and tortured political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalin\u2019s during the Great Terror, and murdered more Cubans in his first three years in power than Hitler murdered Germans during his first six \u2013 consider that in\u00a0<em>such\u00a0<\/em>an article the word \u201cdictator\u201d only appears in relation to Cuba\u2019s leader\u00a0<em>prior<\/em>\u00a0to the mass-torturing, mass-murdering Stalinist regime.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the word \u201cdictator\u201d only appears in relation to the Cuba that boasted a higher standard of living than half of Europe and was inundated with more immigrants per-capita than the U.S. today\u2014and this at a time when Cubans were perfectly free to emigrate from Cuba with all of their possessions and could get U.S. visas for the asking. All during that time,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/babalublog.com\/2016\/12\/18\/who-jumped-on-rafts-to-escape-batista-you-wanna-answer-that-fontova-destroys-soledad-obrien-on-msnbc\/\">more Americans lived in Cuba than did Cubans in the U.S.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cChe could not rest while there was injustice still in the world,\u201d the Smithsonian author approvingly quotes the curator of Cuba\u2019s Che Guevara museum. \u201cWithin 25 months (of landing in Cuba from Mexico) the odd couple (Fidel and Che) were in control of Cuba,\u201d continues the Smithsonian author, \u201cwith Che given the job of overseeing the execution of Batista\u2019s most vicious thugs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s have a look at some of these \u201cvicious thugs\u201d shall we, and from an eye-witness not beholden to a Stalinist regime &#8212; after thorough vetting to assure his\u00a0<em>sympathy<\/em>\u00a0for the Stalinist regime &#8212; for his \u201cjournalism\u201d visa, (as was the Smithsonian author).<\/p>\n<p>A Spanish priest named Javier Arzuaga had the misfortune to preside over the Havana parish that included the city\u2019s\u00a0<em>La Cabana<\/em> Fortress which Che converted into Cuba\u2019s firing-squad and torture-central in January 1959<\/p>\n<p>During his painful rounds, Father Arzuaga was shocked to find a 16-year-old boy named Ariel Lima among the condemned \u201cwar-criminals\u201d crammed into the dungeons and torture chambers. The priest described the boy as totally dazed with his teeth constantly chattering and probably mentally-handicapped.<\/p>\n<div class=\"aside-wrapper pl\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-300x250_5\" class=\"gpt-ad ad-250\" data-google-query-id=\"CISZgYSX_e0CFXrUKAUdzKADEQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/6177\/slm.townhall\/columnists\/300x250_5_0__container__\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/6177\/slm.townhall\/columnists\/300x250_5_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/6177\/slm.townhall\/columnists\/300x250_5_0\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-forms allow-pointer-lock allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation allow-presentation\" data-google-container-id=\"4\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Astoundingly, Father Arzuaga managed to get an audience with executioner-in-chief Che Guevara, where he pleaded the boy\u2019s case. \u201cQuickly I realized my pleas were pointless,&#8221; recalls the priest. \u201cThe harder I pleaded for his compassion,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Exposing-Real-Che-Guevara-Idolize\/dp\/1595230521\/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1289600704&amp;sr=1-1-fkmr0\"><em>the wider and crueler became Che Guevara\u2019s famous sneer.\u201d<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOK, fine. We\u2019ll take it up tonight at the Tribunal of Appeals,\u201d Che finally said while continuing to sneer at the distraught priest.<\/p>\n<p>But what Che did at the \u201cappeals hearing,\u201d (that was attended by little Ariel\u2019s single mother) was\u00a0<em>confirm<\/em>\u00a0the death sentence and schedule the firing squad murder\u00a0<em>for that very night.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As they left the &#8220;hearing,&#8221; &#8220;Che was walking with his usual entourage when he noticed me,&#8221; recalls Father Arzuaga. &#8220;He sneered again and waved hello. Suddenly I saw Ariel\u2019s hysterical mother run in front of Che and throw herself on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Woman,&#8221; Guevara laughed at her. &#8220;Go see\u00a0<em>that<\/em>\u00a0guy,&#8221; and Che turned and pointed at me,&#8221; writes Father Arzuaga. &#8220;<em>Padre<\/em>\u00a0Javier is a professional at consoling people,&#8221; Che chuckled. &#8220;Then he looked over at me laughing. &#8216;She\u2019s all yours, padre.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I walked over and helped the devastated women who had fallen on the ground sobbing uncontrollably,&#8221; recalls the priest. &#8220;&#8216;Put yourself in God\u2019s hands, Mam,&#8217; I prayed. &#8216;Try and rise above this tragedy. God will help you learn to live without your son.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That night (the mentally\u2013handicapped) Ariel Lima was still in a totally dazed condition as they tied him to the execution stake,&#8221; wrote Father Arzuaga, &#8220;totally unaware he was about to be murdered.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;FUEGO!&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>And the volley shattered Ariel\u2019s little quivering body.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to add, the Smithsonian\u2014though billing itself as &#8220;the world\u2019s largest education and research complex&#8221;\u2014somehow omitted all of the thoroughly-documented items above regarding their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/babalublog.com\/2019\/10\/09\/che-guevaras-death-anniversary-52-years-ago-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article&#8217;s subject<\/a>\u00a0&#8212; in favor of Che Guevara with a baby bottle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cIn what is becoming all too common for Congress, the COVID-19 relief bill was dumped on the President\u2019s desk filled with pork spending and pet projects, which significantly reduced the meaningful support that struggling Americans deserve.
